Need help with 1g n/t

i have a 2g gst and i love it and know everything about it now thanks to this great forum. my problem, i bought a 1g n/t for a winter car/giving to girlfriend when done car. what are the free mods i can do to this car and any web links would be appreciated. also, what would you do to this car with a little extra spending money?

Is it the 2.0 or the 1.8? There doesn't seem to be very much you can do to them but check the nonturbo 1G section of this forum it would be a great place to start. I hear they don't hold boost very well (turbo kit). Especially because of the transmission. But people have had some luck with them. As far as free mods you could remove the air conditioning, or at least the belt. removing it from the power steering would help as well. (makes it a pain to drive though) There isn't too much FREE things you can do.

u can first make a better airflow by taking the 'bucket' off the air filter and clamping the airfilter with the clamps.
1.8L have an exhaust that steals power away, put a 2.5-3in catback system on the car and it will have a nice sound and it will be quicker off the line.
Yo can go into timing changes but ur going to have to experiment with it, all engines perfer different timing positions.
Later if u wanna really go big with ur/gfs car (if its a 1.8L) u can put a turbo on it

nope its a 2.0. pllans arent to turbo it. i want to go all motor.

how much do u want to spend.

if u go pistons and rods thats gonna be close to 1k$ for less then that u can jut slap a turbo on . it would just be stupid to waste 1k to get 20-30 hp more

Another thing is the car is speed density. only turbo models are mass air if i remember correctly. you can get the car to breath better(intake mods) or exhale batter (exhaust) but its limmited cause the computer will never "see" the extra air.

it isnt turbo though, i dont plan on spending much, less than 1k, i just wanna do basic mods, intake exhaust, and maybe switch to the turbo cams. how about this, if you had 500 dollars, what would you buy.

I just have to say unless your removing the A/C unit altogether for weight you might as well leave it in. As far as HP goes what does it take to spin the belt and disengaged pully? maybe .1 HP. Same with the power steering that pump can't suck more than .5 HP. These are just guesses on my part but I doub't you free up more than .5 to 1 HP and in exchange you loose A/C and Power steering.
