Hello guys,
I'm new here. I am 22 years old and learning the mechanic.
I own a 93 Eclipse GS, it's the euro version 4G63 N/T with 150hp.
So far i've got a stainless 4-2-1 header and a Magnaflow muffler with 3" tip.
Also i've de-catted it.
I am not satisfied with the sound of my exhaust. It sounds like it wants to come out but it somehow can't.
I mean even Hondas around here sound alot better than my 1g, i can't live with that. So maybe you guys have some tips, maybe i need a better muffler? Is there something better that i can maybe import from the states?
Also i was thinking about taking my Magnaflow muffler and simply burn all the stuff whats inside it...
Hope you can help me

Here is a link for my exhaust vid

BTW, this is my ride:)

The mufflers job is to quiet the exhaust. If there are no resonators in the system. Then I'd remove the muffler to see if it gets louder. If so then you just need a different muffler. BTW I like the way it sounds in the video.

^^^ I agree. I personally think it sounds great. If your looking for a louder exhaust I don't think magnaflow was the way to go. Magnaflow is one of the more quiet mufflers. You have the option to pick up like an Apex-i or Greddy and even if the inlet size is bigger they can just step up the diameter at the last moment right before the muffler. That may open it up some more if your looking for the loud factor. Otherwise, I qould keep it

But still the piping is like 2,5" thats better. I can mount the piping but hold the muffler i have.

Its the ebay Magnaflow muffler universal. Had to wield it to my exhaust.
And i personally think it sound boring:boring:

Its obnoxiously high though and sounds raspy. Id think id rather my car sound stock than the way it does now. :cry:

Did it have a part number to correspond to it?

Theres a lot of universal magnaflow mufflers on ebay. LOL

The part number i guess is 14822. Or it could be just the tip style.
Heres the link, but its in german : Magnaflow Sportauspuff ABE Mitsubishi Eclipse I (D2_A) bei eBay.de: Sportauspuffe (endet 04.09.10 14:12:54 MESZ)

Could you please do me a favour and record your exhaust?:pray:
It would help me to decide either i buy the Pacesetter or not.

Ok no problem. It might take me a few days though because the car is at my granddads house (he has more tools :thumb:). We are putting in a new clutch hopefully tomorrow.

That actually helps. Thanks!

Oh and could you post a pic of the back of your car please? I wanna see what it looks like mounted. Thanks!

if you want louder remove the resonators there are 2 after the cat. the thing is it can get raspy with them removed. Also going bigger with the exhaust can help also but no larger then 2 1/2 cause u need the back pressure trust me it would be a dog with out it. The style of muffler will make the difference so you may need to search around for one you like better. I like magnaflow its got a deep tone that dosent resonate thought the car as bad. that's what i have now that its turbo. i did have a canister muffler when it was NA didn't sounds bad I liked it it was just a 3A racing from a parts store with a 3in truck tip. The N1 mufflers sound good on the DSM just very expensive also. Find what you like.

Ok i see tastes are different, but always since i got my muffler installed i thought i have an exhaust leak somewhere cause it sound like that from the inside of the car while driving.
But i checked it a hundred times there are no leaks at all.:)

@Avenged5

Well thank you too! That doent look too shabby. :thumb:

Im not a hundred percent sure. I think it should be ok as far as fitment but idk how it will go with your rear clip. It seems lower than mine. Maybe someone else can shed some light on the subject. Heres what it looks like.

Yeah teh boostzZ is very expensive here around 2000-3000 euro...
Thats why i want to make the best of my non aspirated engine.

@Avenged5
Your car looks very nice and clean!
You also have a different rear bumper, maybe thats why it looks different.
