I just had an attempt which failed, at trying to change my fuel filter with the bottom bolt being insane to loosen so I decided it isn't worth the problem and I should take it to a mechanic to do for cheap and what not. But the problem is that crush ring/ gasket/ copper washer that is between the eye bolt and the fuel hose has become lost and I have gone to kragen to buy a crush washer but none of them have worked so far. Does anyone know the part or a way to fix this?

Edit
I found out I broke the fuel line going to the fuel filter while I tried disconnecting the bottom nut. Anyone ever replace their fuel lines or know hoe much it costs? I need this car as my dd. And need it urgently

Ya they have fuel lines there for sale, and if it's cheaper you can get the OEM ones. To clear this up you just broke the line, or the fitting?

provided you broke it near the flare, then you don't need a new fuel line. I just recently had a similar problem. Go to lowes, get the smallest pipe cutter in the plumbing section and cut the flare off the pipe... you'll also need a pipe flaring tool and a new flare nut (got mine at hanks hardware, but mitsu dealership should have them). Put the new flare nut on, get the flaring tool on the 5/16 and flare the pipe... bam good as new. if you cut too much off, you can always use the fuel filter bracket to lower the fuel filter a little lower anyways. pm me if you have any other questions, i can send you pics of the tools and what not.

Basically the fuel line that is threaded at the end connecting to the fuel filter and about a 1/8th" of the metal fuel line are stuck into the fuel filter and the rest is just on the regular fuel line.

Sounds like spritian has your problem fixed them i would just do what he said, unless you want to spend some money using all new line.

Here is a pic of the tools. I'm assuming the flare nut is off the filter, sitting at the bend, and that the fuel line is just stuck in the filter.

Also note the bar on the item that does the flaring I cut one end off because there is no way to turn that bar with the space constraints. To keep mine usable in the future I just threaded the cut off side and put a bolt on it. When you are flaring the fuel pipe use a 6mm Allen wrench in it's place to turn it to do the flaring!

how far down? before or after the bend? if you snap it off and you can still put the flare nut where its facing upwards you should be ok reflaring it... you might need to fashion a new mount for the fuel filter bracket to connect it to the firewall, but other than should still be possible. if you can't get the flare nut to sit up right because it broke where it goes into the firewall then you def need a new fuel line :(

Do you have a picture of what your talking about?
Its literally broken in a way where I can grab that end of the line and move it around its not directly on the firewall or anything its literally the fuel line connected right underneath the fuel filter where its still vertical.

Btw to all of you thanks for the help

Do what spritian says, except for this part:

Go to the auto parts store and buy the smallest length of 5/16 steel fuel line and a 5/16 compression X 5/16 compression union. Get the cheapie double-flare tool. Practice making the double-flare on the bench with your length of 5/16 steel pipe. It's a bi*** to make a good double-flare with the cheap tool. Once you get a good double-flare, determine the appropriate length and/or bends needed to cut off from your stock line and replace the end of the stock line with your new one, using the compression coupler. A tubing bender is highly recommended for bending, and be sure to slip the flare nut on before making any bends!

I once had the exact same problem, and that's how I fixed it.

I just didn't have time so I am basically trying to figure out what would be the best way to tell the mechanics to fix this. I literally only had a day or so since I need my car to commute so now im basically trying to figure out alternatives to tell them so they dont end up replacing the entire fuel line and what not

If you dont have the time to fix something this simple and quick. What are you going to do when you have a real problem?

I have already fixed a lot of big problems with the car. The thing is I had this happen Friday Night Saturday I worked from 9am - 10 PM So there was no time there and I didn't recieve a good idea of what needed to be done until today with these posts. Since I was uncertain of the amount of time and effort this would take I took it to the mechanic on saturday morning seeing as how I wasn't going to blindly go into doing something as vital as fuel lines. Since the car was taken to the mechanics Saturday morning and there was not a clear idea of the problem and solution till I returned home last night at 10PM I couldn't get the car, Todays sunday and the shops closed so theres no way for me to get my car and fix it myself. I need my car for Monday seeing as how I need to commute to school and cannot miss my classes. Calculus 2 becomes confusing real fast if you don't know whats going on.

Its not like I am avoiding fixing the simple problem. I have already changed my clutch and axles with no knowledge of doing a task so difficult and yet I still went at it and got it done. Ive re done suspension for other cars and have done a lot of the work on my car myself. I honestly love doing the work myself but when it gets to a point where you need to decide " Do I have enough time, resources, and ability to do this before I actually need the car?" The answer to that is no due to the situation I am in.

So yea

Ok got it. Maybe I was a bit out of line not knowing your situation. Me personally I ended up getting a different dd that way I wouldnt have to worry about wether or not my car was useable when I needed it. Might not be a bad Idea for you If you can save a couple grand.

I understood your point completely and I completely agree to it its just the situation im in put me at this disadvantage. I honestly do plan to buy another commuter car and I even have the money to buy and fix one up now but im more of a money making type of person thats why that money towards that car is being invested towards other cars that I buy, fix, and sell to fund my current project on this car. Until I can make a good enough portion to be able to afford a CRX or something along the lines of that I must make sure I have enough to continue what I have been doing before I get the commuter car you know what I mean?

At the same time you could just get the commuter and not have to worry about time restraints when the car breaks down. Then you dont worry about possible $500 bills for rediculasly simple repairs that you dont have time to do yourself. Ill bet your DSM will get further faster. You will just have a small pause in progress in the short tun. Move your short term priorities arround and you will most likely get to your long term goals sooner is basically what I mean.

True point, another funny fact that stops this is parents. I have had this idea to buy a car for about 3 months. But they way they flip the tides saying why do you need 2 cars , or why not just sell that and get a commuter then is whats troublesome
