took my car to the dealership to get it looked over...front left axle is shot...tranny leaking bad, oil pan gasket is shot..and they think i have a vacuum leak..they said that the engine was in tip top shape and sounded like it was running strong when the revved it but the tranny needs new gaskets everywhere...and im going to guess that the axle is going to be an expensive fix....might as well get this thing done right the first time

my idle is all over the place...just sits there and revs from 1000 up to 1500 sometimes then falls to near stall then jumps up to 2000 then drops to stall...would a vacuum leak be the cause of this...

top that off some joker at the shop did something that reset my SAFC and now my car runs like complete dogshit...

HELP ME, IM IN HELL!!!!!!!!

I went and bought the oem axle and had another garage put it in. It was a 2 hour job and the total was about $300. Many people here have put one in themselves as well. A vacuum/boost leak could very well cause the idle to get weird like that. I'm gonna bet that they probably just disconnected your battery while checking out the car which resets everything. I'm gonna bet that the tranny will be the largest bill though. I'm not exactly sure what you needed help with though...maybe you just need a hug and someone to tell you that everything will be "ok?"

yeah, i just needed a hug
:(

guess i need to get use to this little dance since i now own a dsm...fix one problem, create two more

the axle is a PITA to put on yourself, but you can do it for pretty cheap if you look through the classifieds and dsmtrader.com

the oil pan gasked is doable, it's messty but you could do it and save some money

the engine revving oddle might be hard to find, but check out the ISC and check for vaccum leaks and you'll probably find it

as far as the tranny goes, all I can say is I'm sorry dude :( :thumbdown

Yeah, the tranny is gonna be nasty.. as far as the idle surge, it could be any number of things if there isn't somethin wrong w/ the ISC. if the ISC is ok, check the plugs and wires, and if that dont work either check if your injectors are leaking. Tons of stuff can cause idle surge. there's faq's and writeups EVERYWHERE if you look around :thumb:

edit: DEFINATELY check the vacuum lines too.
