need help passing smog with highly modded 96 gsx

im gonna buy this 96 gsx but it fail smog badly and i want to have an idea of what to do for it to pass smog. its 96 gsx 91k on the engine. also the engine light is on and it says it have to do with the 02 housing or sensors. how do i fix this too

....dude is this a joke? first thing would be to get a converter.. and swap w/stock cams. i dont know if that will pass the car but it WILL help. or find a shop that will "help" you pass.

just take it to the autoshop at my school for reals though put a cat on first, i doubt you'll pass unless they "help you" big time good luck

how much does it cost for them to "help" you pass.
i live near a vietnamese community that owns a lot of smog check and auto service shop. but i dont want to pay a lot each year.
but if i want to pass legit style what so i do? and would it be obvious for the cops to pull me over for smog?

why should this be so hard? as all have said, put a cat on it first...then fix the o2 cel (sensor). my 98 has an upper and lower, not sure if 96 has one or two though. in texas if you have more than 2 (i think) sensors "not ready" they will not even touch the car any further. when you replace the o2s...do not touch the 'bulb' because the oil from your skin will mess it up (probably what happened when the 'full' exhaust was put on in the first place. matbe a little tuning will help also, especially if the guy you got it from did not know what he was doing.

Yes, a 96 GSX does have two 02 sensors.

1. GET A CAT
2. Data log and turn the boost DOWN and get LEAN.
3. Swap back to the stock cams, or retard the timing on the webbs. Hell 1 tooth each would probly suffice.
4. Clean out the tank on "spirited" highway miles, and get some higher octane. Hell even try that emissions pass crap AND FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS.
5. And when you go for the test make sure the cat is HOT. A cold cat does squat.

Definitely a converter.....maybe somehow you could fit a stock exhaust on the car temporarily until it passes?
