well i was looking into road racing and i was wondering if this set up would be good for it mind you i am a FWD

fp68hta turbo
fp manifold
tail wastegate 38mm
tanabe under brace
dc sport strut bars front/back
megan racing full suspention
act 2100 6 puck racing clutch
fedanza flywheel
LSD tranny

let me know if theres something i can improve on or add to this list

I would add the following:

-full poly suspension bushing kit
-poly motor mounts inserts
-a nice seat and harness to keep you from sliding around

I would considering buying a real suspension setup with good spring rates and shocks that have been dyno'd, matching them to the springs.

I would be thinking about suspension, tires, brakes, and safety before thinking about power. You do not have to have a really fast or powerful car. One that can handle the turns will be much more fun over one that goes really fast.

I'd say:
-a good suspension setup (most on the market aren't considered "good")
-a Snell-approved helmet
-a good set of brake pads/rotors (I'd recommend doing the 2 piston front swap)
-a set of sticky, wide tires
-a set of sway bars helped improve the feel of my car

And then put the rest of the money towards a membership (NASA and/or SCCA) and seat time!

IE:
Tein
Motorcycle helmet
Hawk HPS/ Power slot rotors
245s mounted on a nice 17x8 wheel, Dunlop Star Specs / Hankook Ventus V12 Evos
RMRacing, I just put poly bushings on the stock sway bars and poly bushings on all the control arms that paired with my Tokico Suspension has barely any body role and handles well enough for me.

I believe GSX sway bars are larger than the GST swaybars so a cheap junk yard pair is an upgrade but not as nice as the RM Racing units.

^All very good links to read, as is the rest of the site.

IE:
Tein - Not good. See this link - Autocross.dsm.org - Build Your Own Konis
Motorcycle helmet - Can be done, just make sure you have a current enough Snell rating.
Hawk HPS/ Power slot rotors - Rotors are good (I run them), but the pads probably won't last. My brother has them on his car and they're very soft. I'd suggest something like a EBC yellow stuff, Porterfield's, or Carbotech's.
245s mounted on a nice 17x8 wheel, Dunlop Star Specs / Hankook Ventus V12 Evos - Good
RMRacing, I just put poly bushings on the stock sway bars and poly bushings on all the control arms that paired with my Tokico Suspension has barely any body role and handles well enough for me. - Those are what I have and they work great.

True but the DGs the best but are mostly out of the typical dsmers budget and over kill for a dd / some track time dsm in my opinion.

I run Axxis Metal Masters on my car and they stop well from 140mph with hardly any fade but I am a drag car.

I may try auto cross in the future but my car is way to much for that plus spools to slow.

Well, you can find the Tein Flex system for around $1300-$1600 brand new. A DG setup can be had for around $1600-$1800, depending on how picky you get with it. If you don't get the shocks dyno'd, you can save some money there. If you don't get the parts coated, you can save some money there. Most people see it as way out of the price range, but then again, most people compare it to cheap setups such as Megan, BC, etc.

I run those same pads, but didn't run the fronts (ran just the rears) at the track day I did. I think they could have held up for a bit, but I think they would have started to fade.

The suspension I recommended is based on a Koni shock.

The Evo Brembo's would be an excellent braking choice :thumb:

Here's some more good info.

knoni shocks and what would be a good springs to run with those shocks

No Dennis Grant suspension if you want the absolute best.

The rear brembo calipers bolt right up. But the fronts will need an adapter plate which a member makes here.

can u send me the members name so i can talk with him

Did you read the link I posted? It says brands in there. Or were you looking for spring rates?

I'd say DG is probably second best, behind the KW Variant 3 coilovers with the DG custom parts. But there's an instant price jump of at least $1k.

OP, please start to use your shift key and proper punctuation. I've already sent you a warning about this.

Yea ill take a look now and sorry about that im on my phone,Its kinda hard to look at the link's on a phone.

Here is his thread so you can read what all is involved. KMV is his username, I would pm him for pricing rather than posting in that forum to buy them because he isn't a supporting vendor / freelancer. http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/han...10-brembo-calipers-dsm-conversion-1g-too.html

Alright man thanks alot.:thumb:

Everyone is totally confusing the OP. Just get a helmet and get to the track. Once you do that you can start modifying it. Why upgrade the sway bar or suspension when you are a rookie and haven't even reached the limit of the stuff already on your car. The car will not let you down the first or second time at the track, you will let the car down.

^ this is an extremely good point. If you are sure you know this is what you want to with your car go in steps. Every time you change something its going to affect something else. I would say do the brakes and a helmet, those stock brake pads are not up to even medium duty track use. I was fading my axxis ultimate pads after about 4 laps, I also have nice tires though.

Once you've done some learning, get tires. Running on crappy tires will expose when you mess up and help you get better. Sticky tires will cover up some of your smaller mistakes. However, I think tires and brakes also keep you safe.

Yeah good point i'll have to check out the local track's here in Miami and see how i do from there.
By they way all very good tips and guidelines on road race's
If theres anything else i would need please let me know :thumb::hellyeah:

Get a balaclava to wear under your helmet. I sweat, not sure if you do. It's essentially underwear like boxers or socks. You can easily wash a balaclava, just a hygiene tip (and safety). ;)

Also, never ask to borrow a helmet or lend your helmet to a friend. I borrowed my friends once and its like wearing someone's shoe on your head.

EDIT: saw you live in Florida- high temps, high humidity, it will suck to wear a helmet there.
