i need help ###. i got a 1998 eclipse 2.0 and i just installed an obx intake manifold. it worked great for about a week. now its using up way too much gas, my car is running too rich, and it sometimes wants to shut down on me at idle. do i need to add something to make the intake work with my car? i got headers and an aem cold air in it.

hey,
Try new ignition wires, and spark plugs, try removing O2 senor.
how long did it take you to install your manifold? did do any tapping?

Remove your negative battery terminal for 30 secs than go for a drive. Check the car out see how it feels.

How do you know you are running rich? Is this inferred, you have a code, or it smells rich? Secondly, how did things line up when you installed them? I've herd problems of obx fitment issues and the problem sounds similar to a vacuum leak. Honestly not sure how a new IM would effect the drivability of your car so greatly without some type of vacuum leak unless maybe your forgot to reinstall one of your electrical sensors.

Although it would be possible that the new IM has nothing to do with it running rich, and perhaps an O2 sensor recently went bad, or as braedy stated, its soemthing else electrical not burning properly like plugs/wires/possibly the coil.

But start small, recheck all electrical connections to TB/IM, hook up an vacuum gage, and see if there are any codes outside of running rich that could effect it (aka bad 02 sensor)

I put the obx intake on in half a day. I checked all the vac lines. Everything is fine. My spark plugs kept coming out dark black so I assumed it was running too rich. I actually checked it with a scanner and it read that the intake sensor was sending high voltage. I checked the 02 sensor and I didn't notice but my conection was melted:/. I reconected the wires and now the scaner reads that it's running too lean. I was thinkng of getting 10mm wires and an msd coil. ### u guys think??

Vac lines are not the only thing that can cause a vac leak, that's why i recommended a vacuum gauge, they are only like 10-15$ and are a good investment. But it does sound like you are having an electrical problem. I'd start by replacing your intake sensor if it is reading high. MSD coil is a nice product, but are well known for failing early, i don't think mine lasted even a year, not to mention I'm not convinced a new coil and wires would help your running lean problem. Lean means there's not enough fuel in the mixture, so I'm not sure how improving your spark would help the problem.

i thought about the thicker wires and the coil when i was running rich. now im running lean. ima try and find an 02 sensor in the juckyard and see if thats the problem.

and how much u want for the coil???
