Well I had some issues with my tubo, broken one of the bolts that hold the oil drain tube onto turbo, so had machine shop remove old broken bolt, well i was re installing my turbo (16g) back onto my 2g gst, and i hooked up both coolant lines of course coolant was coming out of one of the coolant lines when i was hooking it up to turbo. Then it stoped and coolant was dripping out from the oil drain tube that goes back onto the oil pan, whats going on is this ok or bad? need help asap

yes that is very very very bad, you NEVER want coolant in your oil or vise versa.

for sure sounds like the machine shop got a little too crazy when drilling your broken bolt out, your gonna need a new turbo 4 sure, i would be starting all kinds of madness at that machine shop though i know that

Well thanks for input, im going to either buy a ebay16g or a used 14b just so wife can drive it down to san Antonio from Louisiana and I'll get a good one later. If I just need the hotside should I just upgrade my internals on turbo? I've seen something about fp upgrades stuff or blouch etc Idk what y'all think?

You need a whole CHRA, not just a hot side. Buy a 14B to slap on there for a quick fix, that way you can actually sell it when you're done, and the car will make it the whole way to LA.

Yeah I wouldn't trust ebay turbos. I've heard bad reputations on them. Just stick to the original stuff and you'll be happy on the long run.

That'll work fine in the short term, just let your engine relax a bit before you cut it off.

No need for coolan lines at all. They are really just meant for people who do hot shut offs to help prevent against coking. Just drive easy for the last minuite or so and you can do hot shut offs.

It would be better to try to figure out the issue you really have and see if there is a fix. You will need to block the coolant inlet and outlet on the turbo to prevent any leaking if oil makes its way into the chamber.

Oil that sits in there will start to burn and get nasty if it's not circulating past the high heat.

Well i was gona route the engine coolant pipe back into the other pipe that goes to engine and then on the turbo side was gonna hook up a hose and connect both coolant lines on the turbo to eachother, now does that sound good? Hey thanks alot for everyones help, well the car will just need to make like a 450mile drive from louisiana back so san antonio texas and car will sit there till i get back from iraq then its build time. just dont want wife to get stranded out in the middle of no where you know

Before we jump to the conclusion that the turbo is a goner, isn't it possible that the coolant leaking from your lines just dripped down to the bottom of the turbo where the oil drain line is and that's what you were seeing?

i had the turbo off, and when i went back to install the turbo i hooked up the bottom coolant hose to the coolant pipe on turbo and i had the drain tube installed on turbo but not onto the oil pan, then coolant come off drain tube pipe i was right under it and ya it just poured until i removed the coolant hose and pluged it and it kept draining coolant a little bit from oil drain tube till nothing came out, so its not leaking from anywhere ealse. does that make sence?

Not really, but if you're positive the coolant is coming from the oil drain line and not leaking down from the coolant port on the turbo, then you've got some problems.
