Need help and suggestions

So I've been looking at upgrades for my rs and looking under exhauat systems for it and it seems that eBay looks to be the only way to go to get a full cat back exhaust my question is will a gs exhaust system fit on my rs if so that opens a huge door for me with exhaust And if u have any suggestion of what kinda exhaust I should go with or which I shouldn't please let me know

The rs and gs hard top both use the same exhaust system . They are both 420a cars, one just has more options than the other.

Yeah you will be fine with a gs exhaust system. I got a eBay catback exhaust system (tuningimport eBay store) and it sounds nice for the price. Then when it comes time to get a new one. You only need the muffler.

If you have a rs then a gs catback will work just fine. And fwiw, we put a megan catback on my girlfriends old tsi and it was hands down the best sounding exhaust I have ever heard on a non-turbo dsm.

I meant since you already have the piping after buying a complete catback exhaust system, you can just replace the muffler afterwards.

Buy a muffler(maybe used) and go to a muffler shop and have them bend something for you.

i have a magnaflow exhaust on my gs and its not too loud but it sounds great and the muffler looks good too.

Find a reputible muffler shop and see what a 2 1/2" exhaust from the cat to the muffler cost $. Look on Craigslist or local pick and pull for a good used muffler. Have the exhaust shop fabricate the new exhaust and if they are a good shop they will know about the O2 sensor buy make sure they do it. Bring the new/used muffler with you and enjoy till you get home. Then when your car cools off remove the cat and gut it. Then later get a new header and down pipe and you sir have a full nice flowing exhausted that with the right muffler will have a clean, deep, not too loud exhaust note. I have a tsudo fireball, gutted cat, 2 1/2" cat to muffler, and I get a lot of compliments. My dad who hates "racial term" cars says mine sounds.

Next if you don't already have these I would get asap.

Intake with high flow cone filter. New ngk plugs, upgraded wires, new ignition coil. After that there really isn't much else to do without dropping a good grip of $. I'm going Turbo and the kit im getting has a 3" down pipe so I will be getting another exhaust made and a larger muffler designed for a Turbo.

Fyi - cost for my custom exhaust. Was 220. But that included having a new flew pipe installed as well. So shoot for $180 to $200 plus cost of muffler. Try to find a sound clip of whatever muffler you are looking at before you buy. There is always a good deal somewhere, just gotta find it.
