Hey I have a 1995 Mitsubishi eclipse gs, non turbo and when I got it, it had been running fine and all but occasionally would shut off, I'd wait a few minutes an it woul turn on, runs fine but now when it shuts off and I turn the key on I do not hear the fuel pump turn on, fuel pump is good, and I replaced the fuel pump relay, it died the other day gain and now won't start at all, I need help, I'm going to the junkyard today cause I new my car back to get to work some people have told me its the computer, or it could be the relay that's next to the fuel pump relay, someone please help:(

Hmmm I had something similar for a bit. Ended up being the starter. Have you tried tapping on the starter a bit? If that works, there's a good chance you'll be replacing your starter in the near future.

When the car shuts off, do you lose all power (lights, stereo, etc)? Or does the engine just stop running?

Is your battery tied down? Have you checked all battery cables and terminals?

Just the rpms shut down and the cars shuts off, radio and lights stay on, just car does then wont start and if I turn the key halfway without turning it over I can't hear te fuel pump turn on, my stepdad had this problem with his truck and it ended up being the ecu

ive bored big blockc,,strocked small blocks,, but this 95 talon has me frusterated!! I bought it for my son, knowing it had electrical problems, but I had noooo idea how much trouble this car would be!! !st, changed supplied fuel pump..... then changed ecu,and fuel pump relay's,, the car drove 3 to 8 kms then wouldnt start again. The guy i bought it from said it drove fine before he pulled out the stereo amp? so i pulled the dash appart to find numerous spliced wire's and a viper car alarm with 2 snipped wire's? Ive eliminated all but the stereo, What I need is a pic of the stock wiring harness from the key ignition on the steering colum to see the colors on the wire's on both side's of the connector to rewire properly.. the Hains manual I perchased doesnt show this..

why did you change the pump and relays? I have my fuel pump rewired and it does not turn on until the key is turned all the way. It does not prime before turning the key.

The guy I got it from gave me a new fuel pump, he thought that was the issue, I then changed the fuel pump relays becuase they were next down the line, then I changed relays again as well as the ecu and it fired right up,,we drove it around the block and it ran good, went to start it the next day and no fuel pump prime, and not starting again,??

This is a 420a car guys not a gst or gsx so Yes you should hear the fuel pump turn on before you turn the engine over. Does sound like an ecu issue. 30-40 dollars for a junkyard ecu but make sure it's the same year and same transmission of your model.

7018Stick you should make your own thread and not hijack the original posters thread.

whoop's,,, my appoligies to you guys,, I will try and get my newbie edicate figured out asap.

Have you checked the fuses, also alternator maybe your car is not getting spark.
