Hey guys, Need some help...

I have a 98gst, with 720 injectors, SAFC-I, Venom fuel pump (i know its crap) and stock FPR

I am putting a 6 bolt in...

I had a 7 bolt and it blew up, I never tuned it, just guessed on fuel LOL.

But now I want to do it right and keep this motor running...

My question to you is, where can I get a cheap logger solution?

I need the palm, cables, and software....

Im going to have someone put a tune on it until i can get my own stuff....

What's the total price of this stuff going to run me??

Do I need a wideband??

lemme know guys, thanks

You could always do a classified search here, and see if you can find someone who is selling theirs. Or you can do what I did, and start looking at digitaltuning.com. If it hasn't changed, they have a link to the pocketlogger site. As for the palm, same method applies-see if someone is selling theirs. Ebay(for the palm alone) may be another route.

Unfortunately, I don't remember what I paid for mine. However, as they say, a few hundred dollars now is better than a few thousand dollars later. :thumb:

As for the wideband, Some go with it, some do not. I personally don't have one. Hopefully someone can provide more guidance.

DUDE! you have my RIMS!, except i have no idea what they are or what they cost... they are super light for 18s

eBay is your friend. I got my setup for $55. gto a palm m125 for $30, logger cable for $15, and a null adapter for $10.

Since you are running 720s with an SAFC then you are aware of your he!!ateous timing advance, right? Might be why you popped your engine. I'd take a look at something that better controls your fuel. Anything that controls your fuel and timing properly, that I've seen, comes with decent to really good logging software; and will log external inputs from a WBO2 and other.

No... How do I fix that????

The guy is going to tune it with wideband and a Logger, But I kinda want to get my own setup....

thanks guys..

there was a guy on ebay selling a palm, cable, and software as a package for $80 but i dont know if he still does it. i bought my cable from him and its still working today.

You get something that retards the timing as you need it or get another form of fuel other than safc/MAFt or other piggy back that doesnot cause the ecu to operate on a more aggressive timing map: DSMLink, MAFTPRO, ECU+, AEM EMS, SMT-6. All costing over $550. There is a trick to getting away with the SAFC with larger than 650cc injectors: flow enough air to still get the ecu to move to its highest airflow map. this is where your timing will go back to normal for a WOT pull. You'll have to go bigger turbo and run significant boost for this.

Or get smaller injectors. 650s probably would do fine with timing advance issues (they did ok for me with MAFt) and would be more than enough for a TD05H 16G and even suffice for a TD05H 20G.

I have a godzilla 16g, its like a big 16g with a 20g compressor wheel. it is like 500-550 cfm IIRC, will that be ok? really cant afford new injectors yet!

you could find a eprom ecu from a 95 and have them chip it for the 720's

Oh! Thanx for pointing that out. I forgot about that one. $200 for an eprom ecu and $100 for chip. Then keep your 720s and you'll have injectors that should rarely see over 80% injector duty cycle.

About not having money. sell the 720s to recoup some of the cost for other injectors...

But I really think the cheapest route for a great tune is keep the safc for fine tuning go eprom and get a chip burned for your 720s.

That was the original plan, then my motor blew up, I was gonna get a 95 Eprom, and have a chip burned, plus a palm and pocketlogger for 350 shipped... Then I had to buy a motor :\

Another thing is, I don't know what Kind of injectors I have so its hard to get a chip burned, I need to know what they are for dead-time correction....
All I know is they are 720s. I got the car and no AFC was hooked up, the aftermarket FPR was on (its like one that goes on stock, BM CommandFlow or w/e) it ran, idled bad, and cutout on WOT pulls, LOL, Hooked the safc up and took 30 percent fuel out, ran decent for just guessing, but then my rod bearing died anyhow. Start making power with low oil pressure= goodbye motor. goodbye 7 bolt.

Hoping to get my 6 bolt swap done and using car for daily driver/decent fast car... Don't want a broken pos the whole time

here's a pic of the injectors,

I would really like to sell them and maybe get like 680s, what injectors do you guys recomend for a cheap guy like me that work pretty good..

My setup is a
Godzilla 16g
Venom fuel pump (not sure what GPH/LPH it is)
Greddy 24r FMIC
SAFCI
6 bolt head and block...
Stock FPR, Have an aftermarket, but I need to install a gauge before I put it on
running like 11-12PSI now, Stock setting...

Lemme know guys... thanks

I really recommend just finding out what brand injectors those are 720s are great for a2g compressor wheel... Get a chip and be done with it. Research could save you a good amount of money. Post another thread asking what injectors those are... I have no clue. But someone probably can point them out. Never underestimate the power that this forum can give your setup:thumb:

dont want to be repeditive, but i need to know for sure if a 98 gst ecu will fit in a 95 gst that already has an eprom? im selling the 95 and my buddy is getting a 98. so i dont need the eprom. thanks
