Hey guys i did a boost leak test today, and i found some leak behind my intake manifold, then i looked at it it has a two nipples for a vac i think, but there were no vacuum lines connected into those nipples,so my question is what are those nipples for?? and why they are open??? BTW Is a bad injector seals could couse a huge boost leak?? thanks

There are quite a few nipples back there so I can't tell which two you are talking about. A picture could help. I have all of those capped off on my car.

Yes bad injector seals are a boost leak.I am not sure on the nipples your talking about, maybe take some pics.

Actually, on a '90, those niple rails are attached to the intake mani suport. There should be 2 with lines, and the other two should be left alone. They only run from one side of the mount to the other as a hard line for vacuum to take the heat better. There should not be any lines on the other side either if you were to look from the pass. side under the T/B.

ok well.i cleaned my TB not a long time ago like 4 months ago,so i put a new gasket tighted evry bolt and now i got a huge leak around where my TB gasket is,so what is wrong??!! its new gasket and how come it can leak???i changed one yesterday again (gasket) did a boost leak test again and now its leaking again WTF???!!! btw my idle screw is leaking too,how can i fix this??!!

Yea I did the same thing a while back I put a gasket in the wrong way, so it leaked. Also make sure you resurface it good that could do it too.

And the Biss screw, you will need a new o ring, you can get it at a dsm shop I belive SBR has them.

good luck

i put the gasket right way,and i put the silicone on the both sides of the gasket, and still same thing,i dunno what to do totaly lost now

does autozone or advance autoprats have that ring for BISS Screw??

Long time no speak, what's up?

Maybe you torqued the bolts too tight. I would apply a thin layer of rtv on the next attempt.

Romove the screw and replace the o-ring, make sure you lubricate the o-ring with dielectric grease before re-install.

I would also spray soapy water on both side of the shaft and re-test before pulling the TB again, TB shaft seals leaks are very common.

Hey OLDMan, Nuttin much keep working on my dsm, getting tired a lil bit of my fwd so from now looking to get a GSX but i could not find one like that :(

Thanks for the replay, ill try to do it tomorrow,so ill post my results up here by tomorrow

You're welcome. You will have problems getting the BISS screw out, use a needle nose plier, put the tips in the screw cross marking, pull the plier apart and slowly pull the screw out. It's confusing now but will be clear once you're there, bring the screw with you to a local parts store and find matching size o-rings.

Guys,
I also bought the felpro gasket for my 91 GST and all of a sudden, MAJOR boost leak. Investigated and the Felpro gasket doesnt cover the two little port holes on the tb face (plenum side) located center top. One of the holes is half covered.

I bought a victor gasket from NAPA for the same car, the top side of the gasket covers both holes.

I could be totally wrong, but I think the Felpro gasket is cut wrong for our cars. FYI I have the typical 91 GST TB that has the 4 vac lines all on top of the TB.

I wish I had an OEM gasket to compare, but I dont.

Comments?

I can't run downstairs to convert to something easier to deal with but here's a 600 dpi TIF scan of the two OEM TB gaskets that I use on the '91. They should be the same for the 91+ turbo cars. Since it's uncompressed it's 1.5MB I'll have to rescan it later since I just noticed that it didn't pick up the silkscreened seal on the gaskets.

Yeah, the left gasket in the pic has the outline similar to the Victor. The Felpro is cut more on top, so the one of the small port holes on the top of the tb is only half covered. I checked at Advance and they list the same Felpro gasket for both the 90 and 91-94 1g (GSX, GST).

Here's the Felpro gasket as listed from Advance:

http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductDetail.aspx?mfrcode=FEL&mfrpartnumber=60879&parttype=520&ptset=A

You can see in the pic the bottom of the gasket (it's upside down) has a big section cut out of it. That section leaves one of the ports uncovered. It's too wide. If you have to make the Felpro work, you might be able to simply turn it upside down so the tab end is on the bottom, but i dont know.

I checked on the Felpro site:
https://mfr.activant.com/mfrserv/extsrv?command=vehicleExt&extusr=fmoguest&extsupplier=FMOFull

and Advance is actually using the right number according to Felpro, 60879. So it appears to be Felpro's mistake and not Advance.
