So my engine has low compression on a cylinder and jumped when I put oil into it. Looks like its time to get a rebuild.

Here's my car and mods

97 tsi awd
TD05H MHI-16G, Walbro 190, Dejon Intercooler pipes, Joe-P Manual Boost Controller, Magnacore Plugwires, NGK Plugs, Greddy Type RS BOV, Metal Intake/K&N Air Filter, Catchcan, Blitz Turbo Timer/Boost Gauge

Basically I'm looking at getting it rebuilt with all stock parts on the bottom end bored .20 over. I'm debating getting the head ported and polished anyone want to chime in on if on the gains on this if its worth doing.

I got roughly $3500 to spend. I figure at least $1000 on the rebuild.. stock parts, balance shafts gone, rebalanced motor.

Parts I want..

Full Exhaust (manifold, ported or tubular o2, 3'' back)
ACT 2100 or 2600 Clutch
Boost/EGT/A/F Gauges
Resurfaced Flywheel
Aeromotice FPR

Are the stock mitsu 2G rods decent? I heard bad things about them.

Can I hit high 12s on stock 450 injectors? Could I hit high 12s on this setup? I know I can pull mid to high 13s now as it sits.. but after all this?

Just needing some help on my upgrade path..

cheers <3

with that setup i'd say its time for injectors! no way your going to get into 12s with stock injectors. im sure they are at max duty cycle or damn near close broand also something to tune with!

Just get 550's and you will be able to get into twelves and wont have to get a piggy back system to control them like you would with anything higher. Also you need to get a logger or you might blow your new motor as well.

550's, logger, SAFC 2 or Neo. Port the head while it's off and get some DKS 264 cams. Will be a very nice difference. As far as the stock rods. For anything less that a 50 trim and even a 50trim at low 20's for psi the stock rods will hold up just fine.

If your machine shop is capable of doing it you could get the 1g rod/2g piston combo which will be stronger than the stock setup.
