Hello fellow DSMers
I'm new to the scene and looking at buying a 95 GSX automatic transmission car with 170k. I've heard about the dreaded crank walk on this year car, is there a way to check to see if the car has it? Would I be able to try to push and pull on the crank pulley to see if there's any play?
The owner says that the IAC and TPS are needing replaced, car will not idle. He says it's all over place. He also recommended that I tow it home and not drive it until it's fixed. He said a friend that has had a few DSMs told him not to drive it because the transmission could get damaged. The computer that controls the tranny needs the TPS signal to operate correctly.
I'm sceptical about buying a car that.I can't test drive thoroughly.
Are.the automatic transmissions pretty durable? I prefer an auto since I'm getting a rotator cuff surgery on my right shoulder and have a very arthritic left hip.
Can I get a punch list of things to look for on the car?
The price is pretty appealing, but I don't want to buy a headache or money pit.
Thanks for help that anyone can provide me.
