Im about to go smog my car and i wanted to know will the colder plugs be ok? i changed them from the stock ones to the ones that are like 1 point colder will this affect the outcome? should i buy some stock ones to put back in?

I would suggest putting stock heat range plugs back in. You might pass with the colder ones, however there's a chance you won't. Plugs need heat to keep themselves clean. Regular daily driving doesn't usually provide enough heat for colder plugs so you run the risk of fouling the plug slightly, which could cause unburnt hydrocarbons to increase, causing you to fail emissions. Besides, plugs are easy to change. :)

Ah, life in a free state.
Put in stock plugs. You want every advantage you can get. California shops don't do "free" exams. You can buy a pre-test, but make sure the shop will let you do your own work if the car fails.
