Hi, I'm interrested in buying a 1997 Eclipse Spyder GST, but the #3 rod bearing has spun out. What all would need to be replaced, and how much money am I looking at?

By the way, here's what's done to it... motor bored .20 over and stroked it to a 2.3 liter by replacing with wiseco stroker pistons. New stroker crank, and new Toga high volume oil pump. A rebuilt head, new water pump, used alternator, new starter, and Greddy turbo. Finally a new stainless steel turbo muffler.

At the very least the crank would need to come out and be turned and you would want to get all new bearings on the bottom end. A spun rod bearing pretty much means you're going to have to rebuild the whole bottom end. There will be lots of seals to be replaced too. It's hard to say without knowing what the damage was...

Well the guy stopped the car as soon as he heard it go. It didn't hurt it horribly, but there's shavings of metal in there. Friend of mine told me 1500 for the parts alone. If labor is 2/3s of it I cant afford 4500 into it. Anyone have some more insight?
