Well, here is my DIY tool of the day.

That is one of those 2.5" two piece exhaust flanges you can get at any autoparts store, a bolt to hold it tight to the handle of an adjustable wrench and clamp it in position, and a couple of bolts stuck in my crank shaft sprocket. This works every bit as well as the "special Mitsu tool" and it is adjustable... Plus, it cost $4.

Like a boss. . . Looks good dude, consider it an adopted practice by me.

I have found several uses for this gadget. If you have taken off the B belt gear off to change an oil pump or rebuild a damn stupid ass crankwalked 7 bolt by replacing the crank and bearings (like I am doing now), then you know that little turd can be a real pain to torque down without an impact... Now, before I go any further, I am admitting I took the easy route here and just used my impact wrench, I did try I manually though... But, I did shove a couple of "1 hole" small pipe fitter spikes (tapered thick nails, basically) onto the sprocket through this DIY contraption, and I could torque it to spec without having to do the "grab an old timing belt, put it on the sprocket, and hold it tight" routine. Worked flawlessly. I am quite pleased with this little brain fart of a tool. :D

Another trick I used it for was the timing belt tensioner. I put it over a short extension of a 1/4 drive socket ratchet with a 14mm socket, stuck it on the tensioner pulley bolt, put another bolt through the other side of the spanner, pushed it open against the top of the tensioner lever, and then tightened up the bolt holding the 2 spanner halves to the wrench real tight. Then, all I had to do to set the tension at as tight as you can get the tensioner set without compressing it was pry it back then tighten the bolt.
