Need 2G Front Bumper

New to this site, hoping there is someone in the area willing to sell a part i need.

Long story short:

Got into accident (luckily nobody else involved, just spun out on a curve and into a guardrail at a low speed)

and need a (preferably OEM, but must be factory red) front bumper for a 97 RS.

Located on Peninsula, willing to travel 50-ish miles if you're willing to do a meetup or live close by.

It doesn't have to be a brand new bumper, but as long as there aren't any MAJOR cracks/tears or rips or ANY shredded screw mounts i wont complain.

If you have what i need i'm willing to drop 75-150 bucks (depending on the quality) to take it off your hands. I know you can get new OEM bumpers for about 80-100 brand new on some auto-part sites, but again, those are brand new and a paint job to match the body color can cost almost double that. Factor in the shipping cost and it easily becomes a $200-$300 part. Again, not looking for brand new, so just throw me what you have; the worst i can do is say no.

also, since i'm here, and instead of making a new thread, i might as well put up ads for some other parts i need to get off my hands. So even if you don't have the part i need but need a part i have, maybe i can help.

i've got a stock factory red hatch (minus hydraulic lifts) that came off the RS for sale. has a rust hole a tad wider than the size of a quarter and the rust patch that fits inside a credit card on the bottom right passenger side. glass is un-cracked. has drill holes for OEM spoiler mount. because of the rust, and because it doesn't come with the spoiler/has spoiler holes, i'm selling for $100 OBO.

I've got a factory silver OEM spoiler that came off the replacement hatch that is currently on the RS. paint/finish is a 9/10. selling for $50. you can buy it with the hatch if you want it and i'll take $25 off the total.

I THINK there are some interior panels that came off the donor hatch; have to go digging in the garage later on to find out the color. i THINK it was grey. i THINK i still have them (it's been about 2 years since i replaced the hatch, it might be in there somewhere or i might have sold them already). If i still have them, selling for $50

what bumper do you want? what model and vehicle? i would recommend going to a local junkyard or collision repair shop or part out on an eclipse on craigslist and hassle the person for the bumper. original parts are only getting harder to find so good luck

as you stated, original parts are only going to get harder to find, as i have already ventured into the junkyard scene (i've found possible bumper's at pick&pull and the other various junkyards. but all have either the same amount or more damage than the one i currently own) with little to no luck. DSM's are usually stripped out of body panels and the like first before i ever get a chance to look them over. I think what people sometimes do is strip the good pieces, clean them up, and sell them for profit again on CL. I occasionally do the same with PC's; buy "broken" ones for cheap on CL, either fix it or if it's FUBAR, collect as many usable components and put it into a different case and re-sell it again for profit. The method can be applied to cars as well, i'm sure. But anyway, back to cars. I'm going around to various DSM forums to see if there are any for sale that match my criteria and in my area. Unfortunately, i haven't found any. So i decided to make a wanted post instead, hopefully i get a few bites before i move onto the next forum.

As for the car;

It's a 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse RS (i thought keywords like "RS" and "2G" would have been dead giveaways).

Nope, fortunately the hood wasn't damaged in the accident so i'll be keeping that.

I was thinking about selling the right fender but after I removed the busted headlamp unit last night I found that the mounting bracket arm that connects the front tip of the fender to the chassis was bent and torn. On top of that, there is a 4 inch dent on that front tip that would make installing a new headlamp unit impossible without some metal work/welding being done to it.

So now, i'm thinking about just scrapping it. I mean if you really want to see it for yourself to see if it's salvageable, i'll take some pictures and if you think you can fix it i'll give it to you for 25 bucks. i have a matching left fender as well that has less damage; just a gentle 6 inch long valley shaped dent where the door meets it. I'm sure if you apply the home-made ghetto-garage method of rolling a fender you could possibly roll it back out into shape again. I'll sell both for 50 if you're interested, will take pics if needed.

Oh i already have replacement fenders/headlamp units already, so i've got that part covered. some guy up in Sacramento was parting out his red 97 GSX after the crankshaft walked it's way all the way up and out of the hole it made in his block and shattered into 4 pieces.

Too bad for me, the front bumper was already taken.

I'll take a look at NOR-CAS,, i've heard of them before, but buying a brand new bumper with a brand new paint-job will probably be the last resort i'll go to if i can't find a cheaper used bumper at a yard/CL/forum.

I'm going to be selling the eclipse after i fix it up; she's been a part of the family for 11 years and she's been ultra-reliable that entire time, but she's a few hundred miles shy of 160k and i think it's time that someone else gave her the attention and upkeep/mods she deserves. I don't think i would be able to put the time/effort into fixing her if something like this happens again.

sorry man i didnt have much time on here yesterday so i skimmed through it. and yeah i can only get my hands on the 95-97 front bumpers off the gs from the junkyard. its such a pain and i basically gave up looking for parts for my car (mainly engine parts because no one puts the 4g63 models in the junkyard...they know better haha
