Necessary to run a cooling system on a car running methanol as fuel?

If the entire car is switched to methanol fueled and the block is filled do you have to run a coolant system or can all that be scrapped?

Did you resin fill the block so that it is solid? I.E. filled the water jackets.

I suspose that if your drag racing only, that you could get away without the cooling system. Stsrt the car, warm it up slightly, make your pass then shut it down. Then allow some cool down time between runs.

I would also suggest a cylinder head temp gage, and/or a oil temp gage so that you can moniter things in order to keep them in check.

Yeah the water jackets will be filled in the block. And this is strictly for drag racing, but thanks for the advice on the gauges. Just trying to get some information before I actually go through with this.

The best material they found for runners on the old rocket test sleds was vaporized aluminum. I'm not sure it'd work so well in a cylinder.

You're getting into a very specialized, esoteric level of engine design. Such a motor might have a two-mile range. The "cooling" of a pure methanol fuel will be obviated when it's burned.

Well I need to do a lot more research but all the other guys who run meth, do they run cooling systems of any kind?

Are you filling the jackets all the way to the top of the block? I was under the impression that you fill them 3/4's of the way, and leave the last 1/4 of the jacket open to let coolant in there so that it can take some of the heat from when the fuel is ignited.

I dont believe Shep is running a cooling system...could be wrong though.

Yeah I just didn't understand how some seem to not run a cooling system at all, I wonder whats the maximum time you would be able to run the car at a time before having to shut it off. Seems like itd be difficult to let the car warm up, take a run, and get it back down the track to park the car before any damage was done. Especially running 50+ psi.
