hello guys need some advise I picked up a 91 gsx like a mounth ago had a huge turbo and no supporting mods was running like crap any way I put every thing back two stock 14b ect... like two weeks ago my clutch took a dump I pulled of tranny got a new clutch and when I go two install it its no were close two being the same as my old one so then I relize that my car has a non turbo 4g63 so I got back two two exchange my clutch and get one for a non turbo model and what do you knw its the same one so any way I install it put every thing back together but clutch seems two slip in high rpms it also did this before clutch went out my question is it WORTH two keep messing with this motor it also shuts of on its own here and there note: the car also used two be auto and was made 5 speed I just don't feel it run like all my other dsms would it may be have the a/t ecu on??? also my intake mani only has one vac can I put the turbo mani with out any issues I just don't knw y the privous owner did this any advice???????

yes I did but it would also do it with the old one someone told me that it was probly two much for the clutch since its the non turbo one its way smaller so when it gets the boost load it slips cuz normal it dosent

How much boost are you pulling. Lower boost if you can. Big turbo? Any supporting mods, could be running like crap cause of boost leaks and if not tuned.

Are you sure that you dont have a fwd transmission? maybe you were trying to install a gsx clutch into a gst? or vice versa. The n/t and turbo 4g63 blocks/cranks/heads/intakes are the same.

Exactly. I'm not sure whether he bought an entire cltuch kit (with flywheel) or not.
Ive never had this problem but im pretty sure it will all bolt up and go together though. Someone correct me if im wrong.

Here is my suggestion for the op. Go ahead and count all the teeth on the flywheel, count how many crank bolt holes (seems obvious here but who knows as there are "two" different types LOL), measure diameter of clutch (someone here is bound to have an old one around to compair measurements)

Im thinking maybe they sold you a clutch kit for a 1.8l car as ive ordered parts from orileys/autozone and they didnt work! So i ran the part number and they gave the 1.8l parts and i had to go back and explain a talon has 3 different motors for the 1g (92 that is). I always said for a 91 enless i knew it was 90 specific.

...my question is it WORTH two keep messing with this motor it also shuts of on its own here and there note: the car also used two be auto and was made 5 speed I just don't feel it run like all my other dsms would it may be have the a/t ecu on??? also my intake mani only has one vac can I put the turbo mani with out any issues...
Remember that the non-turbo clutch is not designed for the turbo engine; how long or how well it holds up is a bit of a gamble but much less so if it is set up properly and not endlessly abused. Other than that, there could be multiple reasons for your clutch issues; those don't necessarily make the engine worthless. The questions you should be asking yourself are things like: "Is the clutch properly adjusted? Was the break-in period adequate? Etc." Then remember the engine issues aren't likely to be related to what clutch you're using so solving them won't necessarily make the engine any better. When it comes to the engine things, it is completely up to you whether it's worth digging into to figure it out and make it better or throw in the towel and start fresh with some other engine. Finally, remember that changing out the block and head won't magically fix a fuel, spark, or wiring issue somewhere else in the car.

GSX and GST clutches are the same, as others have stated.

No its a awd tranny i was confused i dident think a u can put a awd tranny on a non turbo set up.
Since this is mostly what this thread is about, it's been done: NT flywheel and clutch with AWD tranny?

Why? The flywheel is the same as before; the turbo clutch is too large for a non-turbo flywheel and he's already determined the turbo parts don't work. The number of crank bolt holes is relevant here how? The 1.8L clutch (200mm) is smaller in diameter than the 2.0L non-turbo clutch (215) so it would be quite obvious it wasn't right when seated. And we know it isn't a 1.8L flywheel because those only use 5 bolts to the crankshaft. Sounds like a heaping waste of time to me unless you simply have to know.

Enough from me, thanks.

Thx every one for your guys help ill probably just put a turbo fly wheel clutch and pressure plate and call it a day change the intake manifold two the turbo one two have the extra vac nipple since i only have one

My reason is because he said the clutch dont fit he ordered the turbo clutch kit they odds are still ordered the wrong one. When you tell a parts person what you want they are reading whats on the computer while listening to you. I bet the parts person heard gs of gsx because he stoped listening at gs

The number of crank bolts is kinda relevant because he said he tryed a new flywheel again maybe they order a 7 bolt but it seems should be obvious that there is an extra hole but without any pics who knows

And after reading the last post he claims he is gonna just put turbo parts and call it a day sounds to me like he decided ordering proper parts wasnt what he needed to do (dont know why)

Now original poster you now know clutch disk measurments you also know what all 3 types of flywheels look like so you should be able to get it working

Be sure when you put the clutch on to put the disk the right way or you will be pulling the trans again
