Ok, i've been fighting with this car since i got it back on the road two years ago.

I've fixed everything known to these cars for the rebuild and its just stock with a 14b. I plan on doing an upgrade but as always with these blasted cars, something comes up to stop thouse future plans.

I had a coolant leak for awhile and thought the other day i found it and knicked it in the can (lose clamp on a heater hose) but not so fast.

I started it up and checked every thing and so far so good, but then out of the corner of my eye, on the front left corner where you can see the block and trans mate up , just below the Coolant/Tstat housing there was a little river of coolant. Now i didn't think anything of it at first, cleaned it up and started it back up, it was fine, till i had someone give it a good jolt of rpms, and it started to fill back up and dribble.

Now i know its in the coolan area but what else or rather where is it coming from? Do i have a cracked freeze plug? (there is one there, but i ran my finger around it and it seemed to be dry) or is it coming from another spot on the engine?

here is a picture of it, I've added some ref's points so you know where your looking.

yeah thats a problem, dont have the tools to do that, so its a shop job and im flat out busted till tax time, and that was going to get me a new turbo LOL... key word "WAS"

all my DSM buddys are 3hrs away, and the local ones here are jerks and riced out....

with me not working, the wife working and both of us in school and just comming out of the Christmas funding, im flat out busted broke LOL.

going to call advance as i seen one online for 52 bucks by Stant so that should be good enough to see... I'll report back once i get it checked out etc.

thats where my friends are saying (have this posted else where) but its hard to say, going to rent a pressure tester, and have a few extra eyeballs to see. I hope its just lose or something its to dam cold out to mess with it.

when i built this back up, i used grey gasket maker for the tstat housing to block, no o-ring. Now on the waterpipe ends, yes there is new orings but the leak is not coming from that, i checked that, at least i can see/get to for that matter. Wed's it goes to the shop, and they are going to do it for nothing, as i've been taking it there for the odd jobs that i can do (IE i need a lift in the back yard LOL)

pretty sure its coming from where the tstat housing meets the head. its 4 12mm(maybe 14mm) bolts that aren't that hard to get too. just take it off and put some ultra grey rtv in there.
