I can't remember exactly when this started I believe it was after installing my 2.5" dejon tool intake pipe, or maybe after my upper/lower ICP's. At any rate, my car will almost always produce a loud, screaming whistle noise at around 2-5K RPM but only at 1/4-1/2 throttle. If I get on it, the whistle will go away and it will pull fine. I took it into RoadRace, and they spent a couple hours on it, but could not determine what the issue was (they found 1 small boost leak at the LICP, but that didn't fix it). The crappy thing is, when that screaming whistle comes in, it will get louder as the RPMs climb and sometimes even make the car buck (too rich, not getting enough air).

Anyone else ever have this? All boost/vacuum hoses/lines are seemingly secure.

i have had the whistling too. it only seems after i have run it hard. it doesn't seem to affect performance at all.

Hmm, that's good to know. Unfortunately mine seems to like to do it at any time... And it wouldn't bother me so much if it didn't buck.

vaccum/boost leak maybe? i'd open the hood and listen to it while turning the throttle with a finger. good luck...

either a boost/vac leak, or your turbo is on it's way out the door. I had a loud whistling at low rpms, but was fine at boost. After i did my turbo swap, i could wiggle my shaft on the old turbo in a circular motion. Check your turbo for shaft play, and do a boost leak check.

hey i know....it's that spinny doughnut thing.

sorry couldn't help myself :p

Almost no shaft play. Turbo has 104K on it, but in great shape. I've disconnected the MBC and pegged the turbo to over 1.5 bar, so it's good. Also, no apparent boost leaks.... That's why it's a mystery. :(

I also have a whistle in my car, and it was right after i installed my dejon tool UICP, same problem as above, WOT no noise, low rpms it whistles, not all the time but sometimes, if i rev it up in neutral it sounds ok but as soon as the rpms get low enough it whistles. Doesent seem to be anything bad and it doesent bother me to much, just thought id post to let you know, I also have the dejon tool hard intake. Let me know if you figure out the problem.

Sounds like a boost leak dude.

If it was right after you installed your UICP. Check your connectors on the UICP.

Do a boost leak check, i bet you will find one.
