Well, i was cleaning the interior of my car when i stumbled upon a plug connection under my drivers seat. I looked in the manual, couldnt find what it was, then i just tried to check by running everything. the onlything i dont have installed is my hatch windshield fluid sprayer... is that what it is? it was disconnected so i dont know if i should connect it...i dont even know what it is! LOL someone let me know

The only plugs under my seat (i have a 2G mind you) is for the light on the dash for fasteneing the seatbelt and for the power to the seat.

I installed a 5-pt harness so I had to unplug the plug under the seat so the fasten seatbelt sign wasn't on all time.

I didn't know if 1g's had power seats so thats what my other plug is for.

hmm, i just checked... its neither. my seatbelt auto secures when doors shut, and its not the emergency release because that seems to only go off when a certain length of belt is inside the reel.

The plug in at least 2g's is for power seats. Even if you dont have power seats as a option you 2g guys will still have a plug going to nothing. 1gs are probaly the same im guessing.

The connector for the rear o2 sensor is also under the drivers seat. Thats the only one disconnected I have down there and I don't have power seats

Does your seatbelt light go on? If not, that's the connector. It'll come on if you don't have the lapbelt fastened.

Emergency release? What emergency release? It's a manual button on the end of the moustrap.

umm 1gs have the automatic seatbelt, and the lapbelt has never had a light go off....with it connected or disconnected. the plug has a black and yellow wire... what is it!! does anyone here have a 1g????

I have wondered what it was my self. I have two 1Gs and it is on both of them. I don't know what it does but id leave it plugs its got be there for a reason.

I am bringing this way back from the dead. Anyone ever figure out what this goes to? I pulled my seats out today to really clean up the car. It plugs into a connection on the seat itself and the wires run up toward the lumbar knob and then into the seat out of sight. I tried to think of everything it could be yet I have no clue. Anyone know for sure or does it get thrown into that category with the mysterious 3rd button on the dash of a 2G?

My lap belts do not cause the light to come on, only the shoulder harnesses.

It's a pressure sensor for the seat which turns on the seatbelt light when it's closed and the shoulder belt is disconnected.
Leaving the plug disconnected will save you the bother of removing the instrument cluster and pulling the stupid damned bulb for those who are taking Christopher Reeve for a drive and he can't tell he's not belted in. Because he's dead. For which we are sorry, and more than a bit regretful.

Oh so thats what it is, that good to hear. I had no clue what it was because one day cleaning I wondered what it was so I unplugged it...well I then went out for a drive and my turn signals didnt work, and my brake lights didnt work...I was like "oh shit" that must what the plug was for then I went, and checked out the fuse box, and the fuse was missing for them. No clue how they went missing out of the fuse box under the hood, since I was the only one to ever go under the hood, or I was there when people looked upder the hood. Well not Im rambling, so good to finally find out what it was truely for.
