For the price of an XS Dual Stage MBC, you can get a used Profec b and have enough money left over to treat your buddies to Dollar Menu McDonalds style. Can't beat an EBC.

Just my $.02 again,

Not a dual stage...just a manual...just the normal one. Cost me 50 bucks...had money left over for K&N FIPK, Boost Guage, and Greddy Type S BOV

Where did you get a $120 FIPK, $50 Gauge, and a $200 BOV all for $150? Even used they're not that cheap. And for those of you who like MBCs why not just take a trip to Home Depot or Lowes' plumbing department and make one for free(did I say free, I mean 4 or 5 dollars)?

tim, why dont you ask the local fast guys what to do? jeez, we live 30 miles away and your on here asking. if your gonna buy an afpr get some 660 inj. im glad you only blew $100 on your 14b. you better start saving for a 50 trim because when you cant hang with any of the other dsm's around here youll want one;)

I have asked the local guys, last night at the drag strip. Where you there. I talked to josh for a while. I have the money for the 50 trim too, so now I just need supporting mods. Peace

Alright heres the new shopping list!
- 255 fuel pump
- afpr
- 660's
- safc
- 2.5 turbo back, o2 eliminator dp with straight pipe
- tial 35 external wastegate
- FMIC
- LSD
- profec-b ebc
- agp's rs43

And Im probably going to need a better clutch. Well how does this sound to you guys?

Ok...I'm not here to take over this other guys thread...and I got the FIPK new for 90...gauge for 60 and BOV for 180...when I looked into EBC...such as Profec B (NEW) it was about 350...and ok all my stuff adds to 380...not that big of a difference;)

Any way bro...I'm not trying to argue with you:thumb:...I would like an EBC such as the Profec B but right now in where I am with my set-up it is not that important to me. All I was saying is that my MBC works just fine and I have no problems with it. I do like EBC's though especially the Profec B :thumb:

Ok enough with the damn EBC vs MBC crap please. Look at my new shopping list and let me know if that sounds complete to you guys.

looks good except, go with 3" exhaust, and an internally gated turbo. you dont need an external these days unless you plan on running 15 psi or lower.

Why for 3 inch? And Im thinking external because they are fun.

how the hell would you know what fun an external is? *obviously* youve never had one. they are a total pain in the ass after about a week if its a daily driver. way too loud. as for the 3" a turbo the size of a 50 trim likes to breath at the top end.

Maybe he has a friend with an external? I have external wastegates on 2 of my 3 DSMs, and I absolutely love them. One is my daily driver, other is my street/track car. The external actually takes some time to figure out, but once you do(maybe a week or so) it's fun. I love the sound. Makes the whole turbo experience that much more fun. I would agree with the 3" turbo back, the 44.4trim RS34 will be flowing some exhaust gas, so make room for it with the 3". I personally have a 3.15" turbo back and it sounds pretty good. Kind of domestic throaty but not quite. Like TaloNKiD505 said, get the bushings. As far as clutches go, I assume you're FWD? I would get a 2600# act clutch.

And about the boost controllers, I hear what you're saying too. MBC's do get the job done but at what cost? I have had many bad experiences with them myself. I would never buy new, 350$ is rediculous. I picked my up for 150$ from a local DSMer but they go for 200$ on trader. I just dont trust manuals.

Regards,

say his friend DID have one (i know he doesnt;)). he would have to ride with him for a week to see how annoying it can get. sounds like when you used to put playing cards in your spokes when you were a kid x100. bleahh. screw that.

if ur going to upgrade ur intercooler get a front mount, theres no sense in wasting money on another side mount, if u cant get a front mount now keep ur stock IC and wait, a bigger sidemount would work better then a stock one in the ideal situation, but in reality they still get heat soaked easily and dont get as much airflow as a front mount would, even the biggest side mount has only about half the surface area as the medium sized front mounts, some might say its overkill but when u think about ur intake air can never be too cold
and i guess im alone on this one but u should junk the 2.5" exhaust idea and get a full 3" turbo back, i run a 3" cat back with aDP thats 2.5 at the o2 and 3" at the cat on my 1g with the stock 14b and im happy with it, iv never known anyone who has gotten a 2.5" on a turbo car and been happy with it, they always end up steping up to 3" a few months later
and u have a 2g, junk the safc and get a dsmlink, its a tuning tool and a date logger all in 1, best upgrade u could possibly get for a 2g

Cirus- have you read the second page of this thread? I ditched the 14b idea already. And as for the price of a pocket logger and safc vs the dsmlink, dsmlink is more expensive than the two put together.

Pergrine- I was making a damn joke about the external. This is the way I think of it, the way I drive I wont be getting the wastegate to open very much. I dont usually hold full boost on my car now, let alone if I am running like 17 psi on the street with my new turbo. So I dont think it will be that bad.

Lookmomnobodykit- what do you mean figuring it out? This confuses me.

I would also suggest DSMLink...it is going to be my next upgrade...it is not that it is more expensive than SAFC and Datalogger combined...it is that it does soooooooooooo much more then both of those. You have much more adjustment of fuel AND TIMING...very critical. Plus you can change your speed-limiter, rev-limiter, disable CEL's, way more than SAFC and logger...plus it logs faster and you can save stuff.

It would be much smarter to go with DSMLink than to go with AFC...especially since your gonna go for a 50trim...besides, you already have a 95. makes it even cheaper and easier.

DSM link isnt bad at all, but for the money its not worth it. In addition to the $500+ bucks I have to spend on the actual software I now have to get a laptop. SAFC and pocketlogger have been proven to work just fine. Shit the fastest car around here is using it so thats good enough for me.

I dont know guys, Im having second thoughts about the 50 trim setup. I mean I want my car to be a whole lot faster but I have college coming up and that whole setup will cost a butt load of cash. Maybe I should rethink it and stick with something smaller, maybe like 16g. I mean that turbo has a lot of potential and Im not looking at being the fastest car around. What do you guys think? If I go this route it will be well supported also, fuel system done along with a smaller fmic and of course a LSD. Let me know what you guys are thinking.

I know I know. But do you understand where I am coming from? I mean I am thinking of taking off a semester from college to get my shit straightened out but I dont want to dump all of my college money into my car. Wait I mean I want to but schooling is important too. I dont know, I have to see how much I can get a 16g for and then if its within like 200 bucks for the RS43, ill go 50 trim.

One thing that bothers me is that if I go 50 trim then I cant even do anything to the car now, I have to wait till im ready to do everything. Cant do intake because the inlet for the 50 trim will be too big for my t25, cant do exhaust because Ill need a full 3 inch. I could put a boost controller in but that would be pointless because my shitty plastic BOV will leak and I cant put a new valve on unless I get an upperintercooler pipe which I wont need because I will have a front mount when my setup is done. So yea should I just save all my money or do you guys think I should stage this? I could still slap that 14b I have on there and make it a little faster but if I decided to go bigger than and 18g then that would be pointless huh? Shit I dont know what to do. Dont flame me but give me some logical advice please. Thanks in advance:dsm:

well...hmmm I have a big16g and was in a similar situation as you when I got it...thought about going big...didn't know what turbo to get...didn't want big cause costs of getting external wastegate were getting high. Now you can get internally gated...I wish I had waited...saved...and got a 50 trim cause now I'm just gonna sell my big 16g...it is ported/clipped/34mm wastegate..and cost 750? 780? too much but It was cheap for what was done...see what I mean...your not gonna save that much by going for a smaller turbo...just save up spend an extra thousand and get what you want in the first place.

50 trim it is.
What kind of FMIC would you guys recommend?

go for the slowboy tim. its cheap and they can get them to you quick. my intercooler is huge but it took forever to get (9 weeks) and made me think i should have gotten the buschur after all was said and done.

Just a side question, with a safc can I tune to make my BOV dump to the atmosphere with no problem? I want to know because if I can Ill save some money on my intake. Thanks and peregrine, I looked at slowboy's fmic and that core is HUGE! But they dont have a 2g kit.

Indy Race Cores > All other FMICs. IMHO of course.
And with the SAFC and some finer tuning you can make it run a lot nicer at idle while venting. Just get a sealed BOV and you can vent with out worry.
