18psi and 93 oct safe on my setup

You spent all kinds of money to upgrade your system but no datalogging or tuning hardware. You are asking for trouble. I would keep it at 13 psi untill you absolutely know what your car is doing. Get a pocketlogger.

It was only like that for one day, but I can dyno tune it on my freinds dyno once I get a v.c elilminator. I know there isnt that much tuning you can do with the vpc, but will dyno tuning with wideband be enough for now till I can afford more stuff?

yes, wideband tuning is great. at a minimum you need to get an EGT gauge and an AF ratio gauge,as soon as you can.

Steve,

If I were you Id just consider getting a "old" style afc for your car. The VPC and teh old style knob afc's work soo good together. I think that even though these new versions are cool and all ( i run new style and VPC), but it just seems the old one work better for some reason. They can be had for 75$-125$ all day long almost anywhere. Im sure with this, a EGT and a decent digital o2 you shoudl be able to tune your car pretty decently on pump. Id definetly want a logger as said above, but its not aboslutely necessary. 18psi isnt a lot at all especially on 93, boy do I wish I could get 93 =), but just to be safe you shoudl either wait till you see some good numbers from the wideband or you get some gauges and an afc to fine tune things out (the VPC sucks alone)! Good luck:thumb:

Yeah, I didnt buy that stuff because I can dyno tune it with wideband anytime I want, but I just need a v.c eliminator to do it. I know you cant tune the vpc realy that much, but will it be good enough for now for dyno tunning? I just want to run 16-18lbs on pump gas, and Im sure thats no prob if its tuned.

Well Im sure you could tune it for 20psi on pump, but how far do you want to go with this. With an afc you will be able to extract a lot more power from the car. 18psi on the vpc (basically all you have is a gain knob =) ) is a lot different than using the afc. What chip do you have?
Granted dynoing is pretty damn good for getting the most out of the car, but you sure wont be ablt to with just VPC. You can but it wont be nearly as smooth if you get an afc IMO. GOod luck whatever you do!

550 chip, I know that using a afc will break down the fine points that I need, I was just wondering if tunning it the way it is right now will be safe enough till I can pick up some more hardware. Im sure it will, just wont be as fast as it should be. Thanks for everyones help. I was thinking of selling my vpc and using some other method of tuning, or should I keep it and just get a afc? Vpc costs alot, would something like a e-manage be better to use than a vpc and afc?

keep the VPC and tune it with the AFC as Austin suggested. its really an unbeatable setup, performance wise. or.. you could just sell it to me for really cheap:thumb:
