Well guys most of you know me for the cam test thread. You also know that my turbo died before I could complete the test. This forced me to look into replacing my turbo and this is what I ended up going with.
First off I have had my fair share of journal bearing turbos and decided to step it up this time with a ball bearing unit. To my surprise I caught the interest of Comp turbo a somewhat new company. On further looking into the company I come to find out that although the company is new the Guys behind the scene are no strangers to turbos.
In speaking with them (Justin) they agreed to give me a really good deal on a custom turbo. They pretty much asked me all about my set up, horsepower goals, type of cams I was using Ect. After gathering all of the information that they deemed critical they gave me their recommendations on what I needed turbo wise. Compressor wheel size, ar housing size, turbine wheel size and so forth.
It was kind of exciting to me because it like they were matching a turbo to my cars personality so to speak
Here is what they came up with turbo specs are as follows:
compressor wheel size 62mm
Turbine wheel size 65mm
Hot ar housing size .63
compressor wheel is from the Billet series.
center section water and oil cooled
center section triple ball bearing
Here are their website Comp Turbo building turbo kits, turbochargers, turbos for sale and custom diesel take a look at what they have to offer. I get the vibe these turbos will set the standards for the new turbo era! I will tell you this I asked them "Do you think it will out perform my BW s259 et" Without hesitation the answer was "You bet it will"! So here is the deal the turbo will be here next week, I am in the process of getting everything together so I can get it installed with delay.
Once installed the dyno will tell the story. I will log everything. I will videotape everything from street pulls to dyno pulls.
