I know this subject has been beat to death, but I have a few questions that I am having a hard time finding answers for. I know I want to go with a 16g turbo. First problem is, I am having a hard time actually finding one. There are so many knock off and china brands, that it makes me really skeptical about buying.

I know extreme psi has the big 16g, but its fairly pricey. I did find a OEM remanufactured tdo5hr-16g for $575.

I was thinking about the T28 since it was a direct bolt on and looked exactly like the T25, but I have come to the conclusion that the 16g is much better in the long run. I do live in a county that requires emissions testing, is the 16g going to cause any problems with that? Or does anyone have experience with using a 16g and getting emissions testing done?

Hate to be the bearer of bad news good buddy, but you need to upgrade fuel system and a tuning package to run a 16G.

I suppose I should have stated that before, I am upgrading to a walbro 195 and i will be getting a ecmlink package

The 195 will work but if you ever want to upgrade in the future you'll need a 255 or something else. You'll need an AFPR for the 255 and definitely larger injectors for the 16g. I'm using EVO IX 560cc injectors and they are fine for now. I would update your profile as thoroughly as possible so we can help you decide what else you'll need to install a 16g. Just my $0.02

This is going to be a street car, I don't plan on any kind of racing and i'm not looking for huge horsepower. That being said, this won't be my DD either, so some upgrades aren't completely out of the question.

Currently I have a front mount intercooler, aluminum radiator, intake, 2.5" turbo back exhaust, aftermarket boost gauge, and a air/fuel ratio gauge.

I want to install bigger injectors and a fuel pump. As well as get set up with ECMlink. I aiming for the 300hp range as of now.

I noticed that link you posted is for an evo viii turbo, which faces the opposite direction than our application uses. I believe from the evo IV on up Mitsubishi rotated the 4G63 around. This is why a lot of the Evo III parts are interchangeable with our platform.

Before you start modding and increasing boost, make sure that all your maintenance is up to par first. Here's a great link. Good luck!

Yep, I'd say some fuel mods, a 16g install kit, and a proper way to tune and you're set. But yes, I can't stress enough on proper maintenance. It makes the tuning and driving so much smoother. This link will help you figure out which 16g is which when buying one.

Thanks for the info! I'm already ahead of you on the maintenance I already have all the new timing components and a new water pump. Also replacing the head studs and installing a composite head gasket as well as replacing most of the other gaskets

I'm assuming I'm going to have to look around for a used 16g? I can't find much of anything on them.
