I have an automatic 93 talon tsi awd that is completely stock. I started having a problem a while ago. The best way I can explain it is, the car stutters when idling. When I first start it, it almost dies, it usually idles around 1500 rpm right after I start it but now it starts out around 1000 rpm but dips down to 500 rpm. I have replaced the fuel filter because I thought it was the gas i got but now it keeps doing it. If I let it warm up completely it does not do this anymore. If I try and drive it before it gets to peak temp, it hesitates and stutters even worse. I have been searching the other threads but the ones that I found did not help.

What do the plugs look like and what is their gap? How long has it been since the plugs and/or wires have been replaced? There can be other things, but this is the first thing I would look at.

This is where i would start:thumb: Also may wanna check for vacuum leaks as well, because those will give you some idle issues.

Thanks guys, now I have a starting point. I am not sure how old the wires are, the plugs are around 5 yrs old. So I guess its time to replace both. As for the vacuum seals, I will check those asap.

The stock plugs are BPR6ES gaped at .28. Always go with NGK.

Don't buy into the iridium bullshit, they are TERRIBLE for turbocharged cars.

I would also check the coolant temperature sensor.

it can be as simple as havin an air bubble in your cooling system. top it off. May also be a boost leak. LOL i found 8 in mine;i had to zip tie a bunch of vacuum hoses.

When I removed the wire on the last one the end of the wire stayed attached to the spark plug, It was horribly corroded. I was kind of surprised because the cables themselves looked as new as the ones I bought. The spark plugs were not in that bad of condition but I replaced them anyway.
