Alright guys I am a current 3s owner I have a 92 vr4 so I am familiar with turbocharged vehicles I plan on purchasing a 2g eclipse. I am starting this tread for you guys t post with comments or advise, I want to run high compression probably 9 or 10 to 1 and run about 15 pounds of boost up to redline so I was thinking a evo 3 16g because I want low end torq and quick spool. I will completely rebuild the motor with all forged internals and probably a 2.4 stroker. which block would everyone recommend a 1g 6 bolt right.

Yea I planed on researching everything before I build don't worry about that one thanks for the heads up on that upgrade path, and yea i ve seen the post and could tell instanly everyone runs higher boost but im talking till redline not max boost than 3s, I planed on reading more before I decided on my max boost.

If you ask me the idea of a 2.4 and a 16g dont mix to well. It will be maxed out very quickly. As far as a dd dsm goes as long as you know what your doing there the most reliable car on the planet.

I would recommend a 6bolt block. I don't know myself, but I've heard that they can take huge amounts of boost and mine has so far been easy to work on

Yea I've seen there less likely to get crankwalk and have stronger stock internals but that won't matter, ill be rebuilding whichever block any ways since most will have high milage, but what makes them less likely to crank walk does it have 4 bolt main caps (doubt it) or what?

Since your gonna be buying a 2g, just keep the original motor(or because you want a 2.4 get a 4g64), rebuild it(crankwalk is a myth). As for turbo i would not recommend a 16g, i would look into bigger turbos, around in the 50-trim range. As for the high compression, if you dont have E85 around i wouldnt bother.

thanks for the imput ill go do some reading up now, thanks for the imput and no the closest e85 fill stations about an hour and half away so would be a useless conversion for me ### id still only be able to run premium gas.

The block doesnt really matter since you already said your planning on rebuilding it. I would recommend using 8.3-1 or 8.5-1 compression, i wouldnt really go much higher if you plan on running large amounts of boost. I dont know much about the 4g64 block so if you go that route definetely do the research, but if you go with a 4g63 and its a 7 bolt, make sure to get a new crank. because its the crank in the 7bolts that is accused of causing the crank walk. They were manufactured out of specs. if its a 6bolt, just make sure you take the oem crank to a machine shop, or just get a new one. and as far as turbos go a bare minimum would be a 20g. or a nice BB or twin scroll 50trim like jeffery said (well i added the ballbearing or twin scroll) but thats if you have the money and want a quick spooling larger turbo. but hey i just got my 2g, and im in looove. You will be too soon.

yea im too worried about cash, I may be only 20 but im a welder and I do pretty well if I say so myself but my main concern is reliabilty I've built a chevy 350 and done 2 engine swaps myself, that's why im oing forged internals including the crank. Also I definitely plan on a ball bearing turbo if I don't run a big 16g.

Just a little tid-bit. Crankwalk is WAYYY overplayed. I personally know someone running 12's on a stock 7-bolt w/ 280k on the clock.

Obviously you're doing a complete rebuild so it's not going to matter whether you go 6 or 7 bolt. I'm currently running a built 7-bolt with forged rotating assembly and have no complaints. Eagle offers forged cranks for both 6 and 7 bolts that you can look into.

As for compression, you don't really NEED 10:1 in a street/track car. 9:1 will put you in the perfect spot...10:1's just tend to give you that "rice rattle" and it's really just impractical, expensive, and too aggressive on a street car IMO. I mean you'll get a nicer throttle response and the benefits are most definitely there! But you're not going to be able to take advantage of them unless you're willing to drop some serious coin.

Eagle is what I was planning on looking into I have an egle crank and rods and wiesico pistons in my Vr4 and im pretty happy with that set up, but as far as the high compression your guys are right and im gona stick to 9 to 1 but it wouldn't be too har to go higher just get some 8.5 pistons and u could mill the head down and hit 10 to 1 and just tone down your boost or run alk/meth injection to prevent knock. I know of someone who runs 10 to 1 on his 3/s and a evo3 16g and had pretty nice results.
