Ok my car is a 92 talon tsi awd auto. Im looking for suggestions on my upgrade plans. This is just a mild upgrade plan because im still learning having only been in dsm for about two years running mostly stock. upgrades i have so far are as listed

dejon intake and MBC
boost gauge
full three inch exhaust minus stock 02 housing
afpr
wally 255lph and a rewire kit
14b i know its a factory turbo but its an upgrade from a td04
factory 5 speed eprom ecu and 450cc injectors
FP racing header
road surge shift box

Ok thats it so far now. Im preparing a list of things for this winter when the car wont be driven. For now im looking to max out the factory set up before getting into the big stuff. so far ive come up with this to do it.

link
innovative wide band
vsrf inter-cooler kit
stm timing kit with a gates purple belt and BSE
rebuild the throttle body from throttlebodies.com there 63mm rebuild
new 3g lifter
k stamped 5 speed cams from my parts car
2g or evo maf
3 in o2 housing with open o2 dump

Ok thats it so far i think. Any thing else any one can think of. Im a firm believer of doing things right the first time so thats the reason for this post i want to run it by you guys so i know if im missing any thing. I plan on taking her to the track soon and getting some times for a base line so i can monitor my improvements. Thanks in advance.

When you add parts try to not do it all at once so you can make sure everything is working. Then you dont have to freak out when something is not working you know what it was that caused the problem.

A 255 will over run the stock fpr.So add an afpr.Since the car will be down for upgrades I would send the ecu out to be socketed and get a custom chip burned. But honestly its looking like your getting the hang of upgrades.

LOL you guys didnt read my post very well i already have a afpr and im sending the ecu in to get link. but i appreciate the thought.

@ bud i appricate your help you always seem to find my post and put some input in.

I know its simple but often over looked. All fluids changed. Oem mitsu transmission fluid and your choice of t case and rear diff fluid. I run redline lightweight shock proof in t case but ill be going heavy weight. Definetly step up your injector size but over all its a nice list.

ya i was goning to get bigger injectors after i get link because i was just going to learn with advancing the stock setup since ive never done any tuning in my life before. you know start simple till i get some understanding of stuff. then step up to some evo injectors or something similar since i only have a 14b. and i think id 1650's and e85 are a bit over kill for this small of a setup. also wile it was down i was planning on changing all the fluids and filters using red lind products. also with an auto what type of fluid should i use.

You might be over-thinking it a little bit. You get the right injector size and dsmlink pretty much does all the work for you. Ecmtuning's forums are a lot like tuners in that you can search pretty much anything and find an answer. You can also post up and include a datalog of what your car is doing and other ecmlink owners can open it in their app on their own comp.

oh ok and your probably right im way over thinking it speaking i have absolutely zero knowledge of how it works. but ive got a few months before i start buying things gotta save up money and ill probably start familiarizing my self with it till then you know read some post create an account on the ecm forum. also i dont have any one around me that has any knowledge of tuning LOL im actually preety sure i own the only dsm in the town i live in LOL.

The beauty of it is the datalogging is a sharable feature and because dsmlink is such a quality product all of its features are built in to one application. You get all of the good tuning aspects in one complete package. ECMtuning has videos on their website of how to set the car up to start, initial start up, cruising, and WOT. They walk you through it step by step and also have a wiki for FAQ and other great tuning advice. If you still have questions you can post on the forums and be on your way to a better tune.

I had to start from scratch and was a lot like you. I thought it would look like the matrix and any wrong move would pop the motor. Its actually a lot more simple than that and it helps a lot that ecmlink's creators have done the hard work for you with tutorials and tools in the application that math out variables for you to work toward a more smoother operation.

end rant LOL but reading up on E-85 and what components you will need is a big step in the right direction. While youre at it look up Speed Density. SD replaces stock MAF and fortunately for us ECMLink makes it easy to run SD and I hear its even easier to tune on it than stock MAF. You will need to get the SD package with your ECMLink v3 package and will need to invest in an IAT sensor and upgrade to a GM or AEM 3" or 3.5" MAF.

So add: GM Maf, IAT Bung welded into IC piping and IAT sensor (I think this comes with the SD package from ecmtuning), EcmLink v3 Full w/ Speed Density package, and ID High Z 1650's to your shopping list ;)

@ afizzle thanks for the support man i was checking out there demos on ecm and it does look a lot easier then i thought. and i already was planning getting the SD bundle and switching over to e85 once i learned the basics and get a bigger turbo.

@1995-tsi-awd the 14b is very temporary i have a hx35 in the works once my friend upgrades his dodge.

Speed Density doesn't use a MAF sensor. You can use a MAF to make initial setup easier, but otherwise SD uses nothing but a MAP and IAT sensor.

OP- My advice would be to stay on your current path. Max out your current setup on pump gas before considering alternative fuels. Tune with your stock MAF before diving into Speed Density. Learning before modding goes a long way.

@ wwes-393 thank you for the advise thats what i figured. ya i wanted to max out this setup and learn on it because tuning of the factory setup would only require minor changes to get the max power out of the stock turbo/injector and would be a good base to learn off till till i get a good grasp of the tuning prosses. then i would move up the turbo and injector size. so you recommend waiting on getting speed density for now?
