My goal was not only to build a car that is fast and fun to drive, but also one that is a pleasant place to spend time in. I decided to focus some energy into improving the interior a bit. So, I started from scratch, and ripped most of the factory interior apart:

I decided to stick with the black and beige theme, to keep the interior somewhat true to the factory car's original essence. I did however swap out the old/dirty beige carpet for some plush, black (noise-insulated) carpet. I then also added an evo 8 steering wheel that I re-painted and had re-upholstered, as well as some beautiful Cipher Euro racing seats. The results are pretty drastic:

I think it came out pretty nice, so I thought I'd post and share.

Thanks guys for all the compliments. I've been trying to 'update' the interior, exterior, electronics and mechanic bits to resemble what this car would be like if Mitsubishi were to make it today in 2013. It's been a fun project so far.

And yes, the seats are made by Cipher. You can find them for about $700-800 on either ebay or amazon (just search for "Cipher Euro Racing Seats"). I got mine on amazon because they had quicker shipping. They make this seat in some killer colors too. I personally want to see someone pull off the dark red color...gorgeous:

I'm also in the process of changing the center section of the dash console above the HVAC controls. I'm going to put in an EvoDriod7 that will give me real-time data logging and visual metrics/graphs, along with the ability to flash my ecu right from my dash console (I have an Evo8 Ecu). I'm trying to make that look a bit like the GTR's dash. It comes in this week - about one year after I originally pre-ordered it LOL. I hope it's worth the wait.

Holy smokes that looks good. Probably the best looking interior I've seen so far man. Definitely real nice.

Are these seats quite comfy by an chance?

Was just saying that it looks like it came like that from the factory. Get off my nuts.

They actually aren't too bad, although I've only sat in them for a max of 30 continuous minutes. My only complaint so far is that they are a little too tight for my taste on the shoulder area. But, they are less restrictive overall than the evo X seats in my opinion. They also feel extremely solid and well-built..more like a factory seat than an aftermarket seat.

Looks good. Black and tan is the only way I could deal with a tan interior.

I totally agree. My plan was actually to rip out all the tan parts and go totally black. But then i saw these tan and black seats, and thought it might look decent if i left the tan parts in. Once I saw the tan seats against the black carpet, I was sold.

I don't know why so many people rag on DSM tan interiors. To me tan/black as opposed to black/grey interiors make the cockpit feel more spacious, appear cleaner (light colors hide dust, etc), make me feel cheerier for some reason, and less common than dark DSM interiors. Plus who likes grey. Or is it 'gray' I don't even know.

I once test drove a black 2g with all black leather interior with a fat guy in the passenger seat, dark tint, in traffic with SUV's on every side of me.... I felt like I was in a coffin.

+ a million on your interior. It's refreshing to see people focusing their talents on the interior as well as the engine.
