alright so ive been thinking.. I have a gs spyder and im thinking about buying a gsx froma junk yard around here if i can and if it runs. I was going to basicaly put my gs body on the gsx and vise versa is tht possable? and say the gsx needs a engine could i put my gs's in it untill i find another for it? or should i just wait till i find another engine?

You can't just flop bodies because these cars are unibodies.

You could convert the Spyder to a AWD. I believe there is a thread floating around here about converting them.

You would need a complete GSX with everything in it (engine, trans, transfer case, rear-end, wiring harness, ecu, etc). So it would probably be easier and cheaper to just find a GSX and fix it.

yea i thought of tht and looked into. but its pretty complicated and hard, not to mention the money itd cost to have it done . thats i thought of just buying a gsx tht was beatup on the outside but still ran good ### i figured i could just switch the bodies

if you are only running a 420a motor right now i would say no way. that would be mega dollars and custom fab to get it done. there have been many people who have talked about transplanting a 4g63 into a rs/gs and none of them turn out well. If you want an awd spyder, your better off buying a gst OR maybe just build a good turbo set-up on the engine you have now and get lsd. probably close to the same money in the end.

its not a 420a, its a 16bolt sohc , im pretty sure

I have seen one turn out real well. A guy brought his AWD 4g63t Chrysler Sebring to the shootout this year. He was running 12's all day long. Lots of work I am sure, but it was nice.

Since it is a 99, it should have the 4G64 in it. It could be turbo'd with a 4g63 head. I know I have seen that write-up on this forum somewhere

sounds like a lot of work...... just save up or sell your car and see if you can find a gsx for sale, there prices have really come down in the last year or so.

If you have a complete AWD donor car do it! If I had a good spyder shell I would convert it to awd. Most everything bolts right up, I think you need to weld a couple studs in for the gas tank straps and possibly carrier bearings. Your 4G64 will bolt up to the awd trans but you will need to use the flywheel from the awd.

Its not as hard as people make it seem.

It's not as hard or complicated as everyone makes it seem. I just did this my self. If you have good fab skills and a welder, drill, angle grinder, and a good assortment of hand tools it can be done. It took me about 2 weeks doin it after school and on the weekends. I didnt have a awd car to get the parts from. I purchased a rear end assy, drive shaft, transfer case, tranny, flywheel, fuel tank and bracket, and im sure some more parts i cant think of right off. I also swapped from a auto to man at the same time. There where a few spots and stuff that was tuff but got through it easy. I did everything but hang the rear assy by myself. Had help there it was heavy. I ended up not usein the awd tank and bracket as i am goin to run a fuel cell in the rear. Im in the whole conversion awd and man for less than $1200.

The drive shaft mounts i had to fab. The front one you just weld bolts to the stock bracket and the rear i made brackets for it to weld to. I used part of the gst exhaust it had to make a custom exhaust. Will later on build a better one or order one.

Also with your 4g64 you can add a 4g63t head and turbo your car with out a whole lot of mods. I found out my 7bolt was shot(major crank walk) so im doin the 63/64 hybrid myself. If you need a head i have a 2g 4g63 head and intake mani along with the gsx tank and bracket i will get rid of.
