well im positive thati have a blown head gasket and it is possible that my rings are shot. i burned oil extremly bad and now my brand new muffler from the parts store is full of most of the oil i put in 5 mins before smoke filled the streets of indianapollis. i was just wondering if this was a comon problem? and ive only had the car for 2 weeks. the previous owner sold me a car with a problem.

How many miles on the car? You might have a lot of blow by caused by worn rings

do a compression check to find out if the rings are bad..

I agree with the compression test.I reringed my 6bolt and reused my head and it started putting oil in clinders,smoking.pulled the head and installed new valve spring seals and fixed the problem.mine where so bad when I pulled the plugs, you could see oil on top of the pistons. never used oil before the rebuild,but was down for 6months.

darn thats the problem i got the car to get better gas mileage while i am in indy at college. this is no good.
