Ok my question is. What is the difference between the two first motors 6 bolt and 7 bolt. I know there are more holes where the flywheel meets the trans but how can u tell the difference between the two if it in the car? And yes it does have cas. Please help me out with these problem and again I'm only talking about first gen motors ok thanks

7 bolt block has a crank full girdle 6 bolt has no crank girdle
7 bolt has 22mm wrist pins and 6 bolt has 21mm wrist pins
small differences in oil pump housings also

7 bolts had lighter more "free revving" rods as well. They switched over to the evo format basically, that year. Of course as most of us know, the lighter rods werent as strong as the big 1g rods.

1gs made after april of 1992 came with 7bolts, so checking the manufacture dates is a good indication of whether its a 6 or 7

It is key to check. My Talon is a May built 1992 with a 6 bolt. I bought the car with 50k miles and am second owner. I took it apart first. Tres....

Look at the oil pan on the timing belt side of the engine. The 7 bolt has a dip in the front case (oil pump area) and the 6 bolt does not. You will have to remove the lower timing belt cover to see this. Post pictures if you're still confused.

Edit: found a picture for what I'm talking about. Just click on the link. How to quickly tell a 6bolt and 7bolt engine apart

^ damn you beat me to it. Yeahh the oil pan is a easy way, just duck under then you know. Also if you knew when your car was made. Everyone know later year 92's were 7 bolt.
Im not trying to jack the thread, and this may be a stupid question, but are first gen 7 bolts less susceptible to crankwalk?
