my first DSM and build, comments greatly appreciated

in September of 08, i purchased a 93 Plymouth Laser NA. back then i would not even have been able to guess as to what a "DSM" was, now im completely hooked

shortly after getting it, it needed a waterpump, while it was at a garage my friend asked what kind of car i had and i told him; by his reaction it woulda seemed like a chunk of gold, but after doing some digging, i was introduced into the world of DSMs, woot!

so cutting out the "fluff" and a trans rebuilt, this is where i sit today;

.020 over 2G NPR pistons, 2G exhaust manifold, a 13T turbo, yes a 13T haha... um delta regrind 264/272s 5speed ECU and 450s 2.5 inch exhaust, soon to get a 3inch one... hard intake pipe with stock 1G BOV recirculated. thats about it, its almost completely put back together, im super stocked after riding in my buddys GSX just thought I'd throw this out there haha

Nice job man, A lot of people WANT to turbo their dsm but not a whole lot actually do it! Super duper high five for you. Congrats on getting her finished up.

SO wait, this was a non-turbo that became TURBO? I'd like to hear more about your experience.

but yes spiritturbo, it was a non-turbo, and by this weekend it will be on the road as a turbo

well like i said the water pump needed replaced, and at the time i was not familiar with the 4g63, so my mom told me to take it to the shop she was a managerat and here's what happened, i get there about 10 minutes before it was done, he fired it up, was adding anti-freeze, AND the motor cut out! he put a timing pulley on wrong and the belt rubbed against the block effectively shredding it and buh bye engine . the mechanic made a call and his friend had a nearly complete 6 bolt turbo engine which i got for $160, i got a majory of the parts outta luck from a guy my buddy found, MAF, ECU, injectors, manifold, t-stat housing, TB, Intercooler.. after about 2 more weeks of searching my parts find was not going good, because this was my daily, i threw the head on my block and drove it. then in late october i spun a rod bearing, my friend bought a GSX and hooked me up with more parts i needed, then i took my block to DSMgraveyard got reconned rods/crank, and about 3 months later i got my block back and put it together in my friends garage. finding the random parts was really tiring, and at some points i came close to wanting to scrap my car but i just couldnt! i love my laser overall, its totally going to be worth it. im planning a 5 speed swap this winter w00t!
