Just thought I'd give you a little note here on my experience on head removal and repair.
I got all the info I needed off of here and the vfaq.
Got the head off and started to remove and replace the valves as needed and put in new seals. Got all the exhaust done and reinstalled. I was to the fourth one on the intake side when I noticed that it had gotten scratched quite badly on removal.
The homemade compressor I made from directions obtained through here and the vfaq (bar and cut 3" c-clamp) was really difficult to keep straight and had put a scractch in the valve right where the seal would ride. I was able to sand and polish it out. On the next valve I got it out but with a huge gash in the same spot
I decided to stop and actually buy the huge sears valve spring compressor. I didn't need any welding as described in the vfaq. I simply duct taped my modified socket and another 3/4 inch socket together and they set nicely into the compressor fork end. I easily was able to remove the remaining three valves with no damage. I decided to remove the rest of the previously reinstalled valves to check for damage. Guess what...all 13 valves had been damaged on reinstallation with that crappy little 3" c-clamp. They are scraped right where the valve seal rides cause I couldn't keep that little clamp thingy straight. Quite a pain. Apparently I don't have the talent for keeping that thing as straight as is necessary to do the job without damaging important components.
Just an FYI...I would recommend buying the sears spring compressor to remove the valves. It is much easier and will be WAY cheaper than replacing 13 valves like I now have to do.
