Still have more to buy but I hope this helps give you guys and idea of what your going to be spending if you want to try to do a somewhat major build.

Good lord!!! Don't ever let the wife/GF see that list (this should be deleted before MY wife stumbles across it).

Really, do any of us want to keep a running tab of how much money we spend on our toys? I know I would probably be depressed for several days if I added up the receipts and started thinking about the HUGE down payment I could have had for a bigger house, or the trip to Europe/where ever.

My wife doesn't even ask anymore about cost, she just signs for it and forgets it.

OP, you listed dsmlink twice, once at $650 and again at $535. -?

your right, this project originally started out for my 1g (dsmlink at 650) but then i bought a 2g so i sold the 1g dsmlink and bought the 2g dsmlink. I will edit that out of the list. Thanks

My girlfriend is actually pretty cool about it. She likes to help me work on it as long as its not too cold out. I dont mind working in the snow, something about getting it running keeps me going ya know?

if my Gf knew what i spent.... LOL.

if she asks,i only tell her half of what it costed,or less LOL..

Yeah, I have a similar list...

What's sad is that I have "projected" and "actual" costs next to each other in an excel spreadsheet.

About two months into the project I entirely revamped the "projected" costs lists. And then again about 4 months later.

I'm sitting at JUST over $8000, while my projected is a shade over $15k... yeahh... about that.

Soo I'm halfway there right?!?... (oh, and my car is still not running yet, but I'm getting damn close!)

If its just a "GF" I dont see where any of it is any of "her business":nono: Be a man guys.

You have to spend money to do things the right way

Dont feel bad, I had around 13k when all said and done in my 1G

I like making my car run right, and doing things the right way most people just hack there cars to peices

i used to think that people were crazy to spend 5k on a 1g dsm, but building mine up a little bit i dont think i could accept anything less then 5k for my talon now...

also your list is all JACKED UP. you listed arp headstuds for 40 bucks then listed from what im guessing stock head studs at 3.00. also i dunno who your buying freeze plugs from but 100 bucks for them is NUTS...

Actually the head studs are ARP, bought them from a friend who didnt get around to needing them. The three bucks is actually head stud lube, just a little packet. As for the freeze plugs, i had so much done to the block at the machine shop i just didnt feel like trying to assign prices to the each individual thing, most likely some of that $100 bucks probably went to having the shop grind out the crank shaft journal caps to make room for the stroker crank.

There is nothing wrong at all with his list, he is listing WHAT HE PAID FOR THINGS!

ok I know that it is generally frowned upon to quote this movie and that this thread is old as crap, but I just can/t resist. "Not a bad way to spend ten thousand dollars" there i said it now i feel better.

I'm sure that four years later its a lot more than ten grand

Good lord if my wife ever ran up the tab I have spent on dsm's through the years, I'd be in the dog house. We could have probably paid off the house alot sooner then we did.

Ugh I just added up what I have spent in the last year...depressing....My wife better not see this thread..
