My DSM

Hey guys , I've been on DSM boards for a while a visit talk and tuners quite often. I usually am on here for info or the search for an answer for one of my DSM headache questions. I recently received my car back from it being on a 8 month hiatus.( it spun a bearing , so I rebuilt the bottom end. ) Here's some pics , so let me hear so advice or whatnot. THanks

Take off the bodykit and put the oem hood, bumpers and side skirts back on. Then drop the car. It'll look much much nicer and cleaner.

My car is a 96 2ga. I don't like the smiley face whatsoever. Although I do agree the 2gb body with a lip is nice.

I would put a 97-99 conversion on that babe, lower it but keep the cf hood. Go with some 17x8's?

thats actually one of the better kits i seen on an eclipse. but it does need a drop to top it off. looks good.

I had a dropped eclipse already and I already know how much of a problem they can be. If anything I think I am going to get 18's to fix my 4X4 look.

Didn't realize it was a 2ga to begin with, but what i did mean by oem bumpers i was referring to the 97-99 style.

Not a huge fan of body kits, but it's.. somewhat okay I guess. I'd go with the 97-99 2gb bumper if you can.

CF hoods are expensive, so I wouldn't expect you to sell that unless you wanted to trade it for the CF OEM hood style.

But all aside, grats on getting it back!

I need to enter mods into my profile. I'm going for both. But also want a reliable daily driver at the same time .I have Evo III 16G ported, Comp 272 cams ,Wiseco Pistons on top of Eagle Rods , 650cc injectors, 190lph fuel pump, injen intake , hks ssqv , Safc2 , Joe.P MBC , Prosport gauges. Thats about all I can think of.

Hell ill take that hood if you end up selling it, i would gladly trade you my OEM CF hood for that

Think about it, those hoods are functional for air, plus i dont think they look that bad

One of the few DSM's with a body kit that doesn't make me gag, but the 2gb look still takes the win in my book. Would look much better dropped, definitely.

Question for ya, do the cams affect daily driving any? I'm debating on cams for mine but its my only car so it has to be nice to drive on the streets as well.

My laser is my DD too and i was only going to do some minor stuff to it, but once you start modifying stuff it becomes and addiction. Shit, now i basically have a engine with 5k on it and a rebuilt tranny wiht LSD that i'm putting in right now. You should go to the Edgewater meet one of these thursdays.

Yeah some of my boys go out to the edgewater meets. Rite now its a little brisk so I want to wait till it warms up abit to go to meets. Also SIDE SHOW someone told me about meets (DSM/EVO's) at Maywood Mitsubishi on tuesday nites in the VELOCITY 17 parking lot. Yeah I'm definately going to get my tranny rebuilt by the end of the year by Dogbox Racing and want to get an LSD installed.

i would say that the car looks nice for an eclipse with a body KIT ( i am not big fan of body kits specialy on eclipse)

just remove the CF HOOD and place it with the the original its much much better

i agree here here, and by the looks of others replies i'm +10

you can probably get away with the cf hood and projectors you got on for more aggressiveness, but everything else i prefer oem myself 97-99.

that almost looks like the same combination body kit my car had on when i bought it..

it went from looking like that.. to looking like this..

Your car does look much better stock. Personally I would think It would be a waste of money to revert back to stock unless I got into a car accident and needed a new bumper and hood. (knock on wood). Also about the cams , it makes the idle lumpy , other than that they are fine for daily driving.

I think the OEM hood is one important characteristic of a DSM, but yours is the one with vents I do like most.
But I'm still asking myself if air pressure is really lower over the hood in comparison to the car's underside while driving. And if it is worth to lose that nice OEM hood...

I wonder if people ever get tired of posting pictures of their cars with body kits on here and just getting told the same thing over and over again: "go back to OEM". Some of the body kits aren't so bad, some of the other mods are tastefully done. I like seeing threads like this because people are doing something different...for the most part.
