So here it is, fresh 6 bolt/ 2G head .. , it has like 1.5k miles on it, just another night of cruisin around .. i went to the auto shop to get a quart of oil, I always had a slight leak off my crankcase edges, probably didnt seal it with enough silicone, but anyway, i stoped outside the shop to add it ... and noticed smokes comin' outta the filler cap hole while the engine was off .. i thought maybe it's cause the engine is warm or something, so I drove back home ... on the the next day on my way to work ... i noticed loads of smokes comin' off my tail ... it was acceleration-wise .. but still smokes on idle .. and when i opened the filler cap it was smoking as well, even when i pop out the dipstick i could notice some smoke comin out ... i checked my spark plugs and there was oil on #3,#4 plugs, I did a compression test and it was fine across the board .. something like "168", and checked for oil/coolant mixture and nothing seems to be wrong .
went to a few mechanics and most of them were confused whether its rings or seals ... but shouldnt the compression be way lower on those particular cylinders if it was rings or seals ?
I thought maybe u guys could help .. and sorry for makin it long ..:boring: btw i checked for turbo shaft play and oil in ICP and everything was fine, and my PCV is new & off course i used search alot .. but couldnt find an exact issue ..

nope, it doesnt smoke when i start the car, and i cant really see any smokes at idle ... only when im driving around if i accelerate i notice smokes from my tail ... and it puffs alot between shifts .
But the smoke comin outta filler cap is always there ..

I'm having that same exact problem right now. It doesnt smokes when I turn it on or in Idle, it only smokes a lot in between shift. When the car is parked I rev it and no smoke, only when I'm driving and shift it puffs out a lot. I have another thread but really we do need help figuring this out.

Do either of you have vented blow off valves? And like everybody else is going to say BOOST LEAK TEST

Check the turbo for sure man. I would be careful driving it to much. You could do more damage with it like it is.

Smoke comin' outta mine is white .. i really cant notice blueish in it .. as im driving, but when i change plugs, start the car for a while then check plugs again, theres oil on em .. I re-checked compression today ... still fine across the board ... hope it's just valve stem seals.

But, im sure it's oil burnin' .. i meant it might have blueish tint but i can't notice, i can clearly see oil on plugs and pistons ..

Well in my car I notice something weird about the smoking today it was smoking. I always use synthetic oil 10w 40, but a few days ago I had put a quart of 10w 30 and thats when the car started smoking, today after I came out of work I put a quart of 10w 40 synthetic oil again and the car stopped smoking do you guys think that, those are signs of a worned out engine or turbo or just wrong oil.

i paid a visit to a garage today, when he checked the car he told me theres no way its valve seals, cause if it's seals smoke would stop when u take off and puff more when ## at a light or idling, he said it's defenitaly the oil rings, as compression is fine, so compression rings are good but the oil ring is allowing blowby without affecting compression ..
what do u guys think ?

Nasty habit :D

Do a leakdown test, that can give you some more clues. Is it smoking smoking out the oil fill cap, or is it more like a steam? Stuff coming out has been normal for me, but not smoke. The exhaust studs go into oil, I had one leak through the exhaust manifold gasket into the cylinder. Gave me two black plugs and smoke out the tail pipe like the turbo was blown.

it's been my experience in all my cars that a small amount of steam wafting out of the oil cap is normal. I always assume it's unburnt fuel, parts of the oil, and byproducts of combustion boiling out of the oil. If it looks like a tea kettle or someone burning diesel fuel, I'd probably worry about that, but I'm not an expert.

It could still be rings, stem seals, leaky studs, or a blown turbo. Shaft play doesn't mean the turbo is leaking, and being "tight" doesn't mean it's not leaking. Oil in the IC pipes does though.

the steam comin outta filler cap is like a tea kettle, so if it is stem seals ... does it still smoke when acceleratin over 2500rpm, but less or barely seen on lower rpm .. it is acceleration wise though .

its sounds like its your turbo,be carfull driving it and dont boost, try not to at least, oil is going to be all over the motor and go kabooom!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! good luck .
