I needed a pretty VC for the latest engine I built and I dont have the powder coat tools or oven so I went with paint. This turned out real good so I thought I'd share how I did it. You can use ANY color, I just chose a "see thru" anodized look. I stripped the old VC with Aircraft Stripper followed by a power washer. After a blow dry, I hit it with a Primer/Filler to help with any imperfections (I still had a few, the more time you take the better it will turn out). Following the Primer/Filler, I painted it with a Chrome Paint to make it have a shine/luster for the top coat. DO NOT CLEAR THE CHROME PAINT, it dulls it. After the Chrome is dry (overnight for me), you start adding the paint of your choice, mine is Red Anodized in this instance. I saw Blue, Green and Purple along with this Red at Autozone. I'll try to put the pictures in order. This turned out real well, I still haven't decided if I will clear coat it or not. I did the lettering with a Black Amazon Paint Pen and will probably do the other in Chrome.
Its a rainy day here so I did inside work. 😎

Thanks. It was the best I could do. If I find an old oven, I will think about playing with powder coat! 👍
