My compressor housing leaks boost where it bolts to the center section

I was fixing boost leaks all weekend when I discovered that where my compressor housing and the center section bolt together I was losing alot of boost. This is the only boost leak I have left and need to know if i should worry about it or not. The tech at Bullseye told me that is was 100% normal on their T04B's and not to worry about it but I need a second opinion. Do you guys suggest I try sealing the compressor housing or not worry about it.

If it is leaking boost, Thats a boost leak... I would do something about it even if someone told me it's nothing to worry about, But thats just me. I woulden't want it leaking. I have the same turbo, I never noticed if mine leaks or not.

Every time you loose metered air, you should worry about it. This is the first time I heard about this problem, if this is a common problem I would think there would be more disscussions about it. It's pretty close to the center section so I don't know if hi temp rtv would be able to handle the heat but I would try and seal that thing.

I was planning on fixing it but its just a pain to take the turbo off just to put it right back on once you rtv it. The tech at bullseye said that a light coating of RTV would be ok. He said almost all garrett turbos leak there but I had a hard time believing that.

I see. I'm looking at my new turbo sitting on my desk all taken apart for porting and polishing (I got 3 more days to look at this thing ), I'm going to coat it with rtv just in case if Bullseye is right. Thanks for posting this thread.

I would use copper rtv if you are going to use rtv. It's supposed to be able to withstand up to 700 degrees.

my 14b did the same thing, and then the next day after i was checking for boost leaks it blew up and chucked the exhaust turbine out my exhaust.

i haven;t had a turbo leak hear before. (t3, Garret T-25 off an S13, IHI rbh5)

so this was new to me aswell, but from looking at the design it does look like it doesn;t seal up well, and after years of use could leak. im ganna pull my new turbo apart and clean it, and try the RTV or Copper spray they use on headgaskets, and hope that seals this one up.

I have the same problem with my 46 trim... It leaks pretty bad around the compressor housing. Please let me know if the RTV works on anybody elses.... Thansk for the info..
