Are you sure the bottom end is moving? How tight is the timing belt? So far I can only think of 3 things:

1) You ripped teeth of the timing belt and the crnak is just spinning.
2) The autotensioner gave out and now the belt is super slack. Check this by seeing how tight the belt is on top of the cam gears.
3) The belt snapped down by the crank and you just can't see it yet.

All 3 problem will lead to bent valves in the head.

since were on the topic of timing belts....i have a 93 eclipse GS 2.0 and the timing belt is very loose, so loose that in fact im afraid to run it. i tightened it a few times very tight and it would just come loose afte a few minutes, wen i tightend the belt, i losened the tensioner pully and spun it so it would put pressure against the belt. am i doing something wrong here? the belt cant be stretching because its brand new. also, i developed a nasty coolant leak by the oil filter. any suggestions of what that might be??

all the smart people seem to be here on your thread. i apoligize. i was really desperate for help. i need to know because i was either going to fix the ds or buy a used 1990 300zx. Tevenor helped me narrow down what my problem is and i thank him for that. i still wonder if it would be cheaper to replace the head

That pretty funny 4Life. Does this mean you think that Extreme will have a working motor for you by the end of the month? Wes’s turbo spools up just fine Id say about 4500 or so. Just because he is on the street doesn’t mean he magically loses the ability to smoke you. Besides he has a bottle in his trunk too But I seriously doubt he is going to make the hr trip in his Talon.

I don’t think we need to start beating our chests to prove who the king will be. Although there will be two pretty strong examples coming out of Wes Hess Racing. I would like to take this opportunity to say that I ran a 12.1@117 on pump gas the other week. wink

I'm sure this meet will be a lot of fun. I'm looking forward to meeting everyone in the area and talking DSMs for an afternoon.
