Well my baby crapped out on me severely today. I left for work at 5:20 a.m. and on my way to the gas station for my morning coffee I start to hear knocking and pinging over my radio. I looked at my logger and my knock count was going through the roof. I turned around, limped back to the house, and shut it down. Once it got daylight I started looking things over. After ruling out all the obvious stuff I decided to drain the oil and drop the pan. I didn't even have to drop the oil pan i looked in the drain pan and it had metal shavings in it. This couldn't have come at a worst time. I'm in the process of buying a house, this was my only mode of transportation, and I still owe money on the loan. I just changed the oil last weekend too. DAMN IT !!! Sorry, I'm sure most of you really don't give a s*** but I had to vent. :(

There are some pros to my situation though. I was able to drop my insurance down so I'm going to save about $280 every 6 months and I have something that will keep me busy on the weekends. I have a friend who's going to sell me his 88 CRX for dirt cheap. So I'll have a car that'll haul my butt back and forth to work. :thumb: It's not a bad looking car either, I like it. OMG That's right, I said it. I like the Honda.

I have a friend that put a supercharger on his CRX. Holy Hella Fast!!!

Sorry to hear that happend after the rebuild! My oil pump just broke like yours did last week and oil got all over the place :( I'm having a lot of things replaced now.

I loved my 96 GS-T. But I finally had to let her go. I had put so much money into her that I was stressed out everytime I drove it wondering what was going to break next. I no longer could enjoy her. I still miss it though, but it is nice not having that stress anymore. Sometimes you just have to take your loses. Although in your case the shop should be buying and installing a new engine for you.

that sucks man, thats why i do everything by myself.... atleast ya can only blame yourself that way

I agree with you there. A total rebuild by myself would have cost more money so that's why I went the route I did. Fat bit of good that did.

Hell yeah! I never did buy that CRX though. That car was a basketcase.

I feel your pain.

I just about ready to part with my TSI as well. After this fiasco, the stress just might be too much. I did talk to someone at the shop. They said they're going to send someone down to my place to look at it and take it from there. We'll see what happens.

Well, here's the skinny on my current situation. One of the guys who worked on my engine came to my place and I explained the story to him. We removed the timing cover and did some investigating. Basically what happened was the nut holding the oil pump sprocket wasn't tight enough and worked it's way off, along with the sprocket. This caused the belt to slip and allowed oil to leak out of the seal around the sprocket. The only thing we could see wrong is is the intake cam is off by 2 or 3 teeth and there's a small coat of oil on the sprockets, nothing major. Him and I both aree that they're shouldn't have been any damage internally to the motor. He said I was lucky I shut it down as quick as I did and that I wasn't driving down the road or this would have been catastrophic. So, the dude said that they're going to cover the cost of a new belt and timing cover and apologized to me countless times about this. I'm going to put it back together and see what happens. If anything else out of the ordinary happens or it doesn't sound and run right, I'm supposed to let them know. I feel a little better but I'm still worried. There shouldn't have been any internal damage but, "shouldn't" is the key word here.

Man, this just seems like a huge pain in the ass :( Probably woulda been cheaper to just order in a new engine from japan :( Sucks to see you're going through so many problems.

I hope my TSI, or GST doesn't give me these problems :(

This whole thread is like a horror story. Sorry for all your bad luck bro. I know how it feels. Everytime i fix my talon something happens. Hell i spent 2000K on a paint job last August and ended up pretty much totalling it in a ditch on a rainy day, three months later. Sometimes we just have that damn black cloud over our heads.

Run a compression test to see if you have any bent valves.

Most definitely!

It has been a huge pain in the ass. It's been one thing after another. The saying goes, things always get worse before they get better. Well, I'd like to think there's a stopping point with all the bad though.

I agree 100%

Dude you and me have the same cloud. HA HA it seems to be giving you more expensive problems but so far i had that car wreck(waste of $2000 i previously spent) , blown clutch (cost me another $800 installed), valve cover leaking like crazy (fixed fairly cheap) , then my EGR valve went out ($100), now my alternator is giving me issues. Damn you black cloud.........
