So I have a 92 model talon AWD Auto. I have a build date of Jul 91. From all the searching I have done this seems to be a 6bolt motor. My question is That means that I have a bad rear diff? I am going to do alot to the tranny. And from the looks of it my ECU is not an EPROM. =( I pulled out the radio to check the fuse in the back and looked at the ECU. It didnt have the holes where you could see the eprom chips solder points. =( But odd enough I looked up on DSMLink the list of EPROM ECU's and mine which is the MD165531 they show to be an EPROM ECU. Is there a mix of some MD165531's that were and weren't? Why isn't there a standard that they followed when putting in ECU's. And where would my TCU be located? I have been told you can tune this as well or is that not true? Is datalogging possible?

By "bad" rear diff, do you mean the 3-bolt axle cups?

If that's the case, then yes you have them....but I've never seen or heard of a case where a daily-driven automatic car had trouble with rear differential breakage.

Why isn't there a standard that they followed when putting in ECU's.
There are a lot of things that Mitsubishi does without a "standard".

Yeo this is what i was talking about. How much WHP is the 3bolt diff and half shafts good to hold?

That would be good if I can get away with driving it around with about 300-350 whp for a year or so before i go with a 35R

Yeah no $hit. Its really irrating.I just did the vacum mod to rip out all the extra lines and EGR with canister.

One more thing, the gas tank vent connection is the tube that is connected on the side of the canister and only has about 3 inchs of rubber and then attaches to the hardline that is mounted to the firewall and runs along the back of it and returns to the tank right?
