i blew up my engine a few days ago, and i sent the crankshaft and the block to the machine shop, the crankshaft is ok, but the cylinders have from 0.04mm to 0.06mm of wear. my question is simple. do i need to get .20mm pistons or can i use the standard ones still? whats the maximum tolerance allowed in the cylinders? im planning in using the block like it is, because i´ve got not enough cash, to rehone or buy .20mm pistons, what do you guys think?

To compensate for the price difference, you always could sell the OEM pistons. I dont know if you've factored that into your decision.

I don't know anything concerning the specs: what is OK, and not OK as far as wear goes, but you should clear up your numbers to make sense. Firs off, it is not .2mm pistons, 20 over would be .020 inches. This equals .5mm. If your cylinders are worn .06mm that is nothing, and I cannot see how that would do anything, but I am not sure.

unfortunatly, 3 pistons got melted, so i bought a set of standard pistons and rings. i just wanted to know if the cylinders wear from 0.04mm to 0.06mm is in a normal tolerance range, before rehoning or going with bigger pistons. Also i wanted to add, that i think i melted 3 pistons because i went lean, after getting a walbro 190, that apparently wasn´t installed correctly by myself, so i was having a fuel pressure problem (long time trying to start it). correct me if im wrong. :thumb:
