i know I'm in the same spot only making minim wage oh well at least ill have my dd gst then this

I would out a lil grease on the splines for the clutch and where the transfer case goes on. And just in case you dont know you cant put the transfer case on tell after the motor is in. And when I put eclipse motors in I losing the trans I take off all of the mounts, not of the trans but off of the car. That way the trans can till so you can get the clutch and the flywheel inside the trans.

Alright thanks for the info I need all the help I can get. This is gonna be my first time putting an engine and clutch in

The interior looks to be in fairly good shape:)

yeah the front seats are busted so im replacing that. i plan on getting all black interior just like my gst:) i dont like the tan color

I'm gonna be putting a 6 bolt motor in should I do everything that's in this link 6 Bolt Motor Install Into a 2G Eclipse or is it more simple or just if i use the 2g head?

No, it's not "that" simple" you will need maching on the head to get the head studs to fit correctly. The wiring will be the same, but in the end it should cost more in labor. With the 1g head you just need to use the cam angle sensor not the crank angle sensor.

Correct me if I am wrong.

Yeah I'm confused bout the whole 6 bolt swap I'm using a 6 bolt block and head so its mostly the wiring that has to be modified

Te Cam Angle sensor is on the passenger side of the head, next to the therm. housing. The Crank Angle sensor is hidden underneath the timing on the drivers side of the car.

The 2g, 7 bolt motors came with both a Cam Angle sensor and Crank Angle sensor while the 6 bolt's only came with a Cam Angsle sensor. So basically all the wiring will be in the head. I know that RRE was selling a harness like this to eliminate that issue.

Magnus and RRE both have write ups on how to do the swap. I would follow them as much as possible being your first time. They are really helpful. The only wiring issue is the cam sensor of the 6 bolt to the cam sensor and crank sensor to the 7 bolt. You have to modify your drivers side motor mount as well.

yeah im following the RRE write up. now im taking the motor apart its supposed to have a rebuilt bottem end with 500 miles so i hoping it does:cool:

pulled off the head the guy i bought it off said the block had 500 miles then blew the head gasket. this is how it looks it smells like coolant but the gasket looks fine what do you guys think

Statement retracted - I missed the bottom pics... somehow.

Yeah. >> Gasket.

you know what kind of gasket it is? in the second and third pic where you see the liquid im thinking the head and block werent resurfaced or it was not sealed correctly

To Me? I don't have a lot of experience with brands.. but honestly.. looks felpro to me.

What I would think is that they didn't torque the head down correctly, or didn't re-torque it. Probably torqued from the outside in. This caused a bad seal and coolant to leak over.

That or what you stated. The matting surfaces weren't level.

it looks like a composit gasket to me which i dont think you have to have the block and head resurcfaced.

-shrug- As I said, I suck with brands.

As far as anything, it obviously has a little wear, then again some of that is going to be from pulling the head from the block and taking chunks with it.

I'd vote that -

1: The surface of the head was uneven

2: The Head wasn't torqued down correctly the last time it was removed.

Do not get them belted. >__>

I've seen Bogus toss that around, so it must have a good reason behind it.
