Hey GUYS, need some help badly. I Purchased a 95 tsi and I am in the process of getting it bored and honed. The guys at the shop just got my engine apart and were asking me if it was suppose to have oil squirters. I thought that a tsi, comes with 4g63 tubro block, and oil squirters are standard for that block? So what im trying to figure out is has anyone else heard of this or did the asshole before me put a n/t 7 bolt my car and never told me.

Please guys need your help and i plan i becoming a dedicated member to this forum so give me some responses guys....

Im not sure if there are any provision, il have to check tommorow. But if it is a n/t block i can just run forged pistons and i should be fine right?

Some experienced people don't seem to think the 2G oil squirters were very effective anyway, so probably the main thing is to have good pistons. You may have lost some ground, but it's probably not worth losing sleep over.

Didnt the 7bolt n/t only come in the euro spec n/t cars? All USDM n/t's came with either the 420a or the 4g64 in the spyders. And As far as I can remember, the 7bolt n/t variety in the hyundai was either a 1.6 or 1.8. Are you sure it is not a 2.4?

You're forgetting the 93 and 94 non turbo engines, which were also 7 bolts.

Most likely the shop is just overlooking them. 2G squirters aren't as easily identified as 1G squirters. The 2G squirters can only be easily viewed by looking straight down the bores.
The worthless little bastards...

Magnus has a good page about it, their site is down right now though. When it comes back up, check out the pictures on the "crankwalk theory" page.

Either the owner was a tard, or who ever sold them the engine was a bad seller. I have heard of cases where people buy engines from a "shop" and they end up getting the wrong stuff. And who really wants to disassemble a "brand new engine" to check? If anything, you are one step ahead already. Some believe the oil squirters going bad/getting clogged was one of the underlining causes of CW.

If it were a 1g 7bolt, it should be obvious due to the lack of bellhousing mating surface on the block and 1g engine mount locations on the block. 1g 6 bolt and 7bolt engines where visually identical other than oil pan, front cover, and outer ex manifold stud diameter. The 2g blocks were visually quite different

I just rebuilt a motor out of my 95 tsi -the original motor and sold it to my buddy and put it in his car and it didnt have oil squirters

Actually if you would take a pic id like to see them for future reference- my buddy
put rings and bearings in it at his shop then i finished it and put it in the car- i know what the 6-bolt squirters look like you cant miss them -but id like to see the 7-bolts if you would -Please and thanks

both 1g 6bolt and 7bolt had the oil squirters,2g's came with oil jets, tiny little check valves that were flushed with block and looked like pin holes from the top of bore looking down on them, they looked nothing like the 1g oil gushers.

This is the 95 block cut about 6" down. You are looking at the block the way it sits in the car, except the top 6 inches have been removed.

In the foreground (A) you can see where the oil squirters reside. They are pressed into this hole. They share their oil supply with that supplied to the main bearings.

In the background (B), you can see the size of the main oil gallery.
