My 2.0L T3 Build

2.4L was the best decision I ever made. I am hitting 15 lbs. of boost at around 3K RPMs and full boost (30~31) at 3900. I can go deep into the 8K RPM range and hold my boost all the way through.

There really is no reason not to 2.4L.

It doesn't. Everyone is just broke and can't afford to go to the levels of Shep, Kiggly or Rau. Plus you are ignoring the core concepts of engines. More displacement, more torque, more torque the quicker you make HP. The quicker you make HP, the less you need to accomplish the same feats.

is that a jnz manifold?

No,Punishment Racing T3 w/ 44mm

How about a Moroso oil pan? Moroso : Category Display

Sure, it's almost 7 times the cost. Btw, is this a drag beast or autocross? I'm assuming drag but with what you are building, it deserves a lap around laguna seca.

d

Drag beast is what I want but I would like to autocross. The main purpose is for drag.

What I got in the mail yesterday LOL

My point is why are the bigdogs running 2.0. If another combo made more power wouldnt they run it?

Who is your definition of a big dog?

Brent Rau? Built a car around a 2.0 before 2.4s were even considered viable. The amount of money it would cost him to switch to a 2.4 and re-engineer everthing is probably not worth it.

John Sheppard? Same situation.

Marco Passante? He has done a few combinations.

Andrew Brilliant? He runs a 2.4L, and it's bad-ass.

---

I don't know who you consider a big dog, but you are probably only considering DSMers who are known around these parts. Venture out to the Evo world, where they are embracing the 2.4L. Like I said, DSMers are cheap man, in the nices way possible, follow the money, the innovators and see what they are doing.

In a Super Street I have, there is a small section on DSM/EVOs that basically says it clear as day, in summary, there is no reason to stick with a 2.0 when you can do the same thing on a 2.4.

I'm thinking of buying a sheet metal intake manifold and I'm trying to figure out what would work best with my setup. I have choices between versions of jmf and magnus. Another option i was thinking about is extrude honing my stock 1g intake manifold. Is anyone using an extrude manifold? Or is a sheet metal my best option? I know the magnus or jmf has been :beatentodeath: but is the race version streetable? I would like to use a extrude manifold if it will out perform a smim and I would like a sleeper look. :ninja:

nope nope, JNZ race manifold is my pick and what i personally own.

or you should consider the new redesigned magnus intake manifold...

everything you say is on point. i wanted to go magnus 2.4l motor but i couldn't afford it. so now im putting together my 2.3 with my eagle setup.

Actually it depends on your goals. Us Evo guys have two choices. Bigger displacement for autox type racing or 2.0 for drag. 2.3-2.4s aren't reliable above 8000ish rpms in Evos. When you can build a 2.0 that can rev to 10k, that is a lot of extra power band. Especially for huge turbos. Sure the low end torque is great, but when you're revving at 8k rpms, the difference of .3 displacement is extremely minimal. And the extra power band more than makes up for it.

I am sure DSMs are different, but it's a well known fact in the Evo crowd that if you want to go for 1/4 miles times, 2.0 is the way to go.

I received my new Tial Q BOV and MVR 44mm wastegate today. The wastegate came with the wrong spring. I also got a new 2g non cruise control cable. I'll be sending out some part for powder coating and ceramic coating to TCC. I will have my valve cover shaved/welded -8AN fitting, intercooler pipes and brake calipers powder coated. The only reason I wanted an egt gauge to monitor the temp in a hard 3 and 4 gear pull. I don't want to melt anything.:notgood:

Now for more questions:
I ordered a 1 bar spring for my wastegate but I received a 1.1 bar. What the con of running a 1.1 bar besides I can't run low boost? I received an 11 psi spring on my BOV will I work on my set up? I hate being ignorant. Is there really good book I can read to help me understand the tuning process?

There really isnt any Cons from running higher wastegate springs other than the obvious "cant run lower boost"..

Its ideal to get a spring as close as possible to your desired boost level, that way you wont have to rely to much on setting up boost controllers to hold boost properly

11psi TiAL spring will work just fine

I'm getting ready to relocate my fuse box. I searched and found a couple of helpful thread but I have AEM EMS. I know it eliminates some thing. What things should I not remove?

Purchase a couple of small things like JNZ 6bolt CAS adaptor. I’m making a parts list that never ends :sosad: . Money really tight :mad:and I’m losing motivation.:boring: I look at all the parts I have in boxes and the car hasn’t moved in 2 year. :mad:Like my SHEP Stage 4 Transmission w/ evo 3 first/fifth gear and input shaft and quaife on the floor in its box, ETS race 4”core/with pipe, MAP stage 4 head, 2.3l block forged rusting and all I can see is $$$$. When the cars it’s done hopefully it will be worth it.:pray::pray:
Q?
I have the speed sensor on my fwd transmission; will it work on my awd transmission?
Defi or AEM gauges?

I have ordered a Punishment racing 3” Vband O2 housing, 3” PR Downpipe, magnus cast intake manifold. I have the play the waiting game and it sucks.:boring: All my powdercoat is being done @ TCC and should be done soon. I purchased a Rear Diff from a fellow member and im waiting for also.(fellow member had good communication with me until payment was sent as a gift.:sosad: He has good review but now doesn’t respond to PM.:notgood: I hope I don’t get burn. I will be optimistic about this situation) I hate waiting :banghead:

You'll be fine with the wastegate spring. You can use a boost controller on the lower port to get 10-12psi above what it is set at just like an internal gate, and you can use the upper port to get a lot more boost than that.

You can still file a claim for gift payments. I would recommend doing it now before its too late. Ive been there done that kinda things. Now i just pay the extra fees for the seller to cover my butt

Progress is slow. I just entered the group buy with DGR coilover. I requested 10K front and 13K rear with Swift springs. I just received my Magnus cast intake but i have to return it. It had major flaws. They forgot to include my gasket and fuel rail. It’s been a bad experience with Magnus. I have to wait for Punishment-racing on my 3" Vband O2 housing with downpipe. I requested the flange on the downpipe replaced and re-welded with a 3" Vband. They said 1-2 weeks but it’s been almost 2 Months. I email them on Thursday but no response and i call but answer machine. I purchased the solid front and rear motor mounts from black_gst. Waiting on the mounts. My brembo caliper and allot of stuff are at TCC for powder coating and it’s been there for months. I got ripped off by a member here. He shipped me a NON-LSD differential rear. :notgood:I hate waiting but have no choice.

I finally received the Magnus cast intake/fuel rail and PR O2 housing with downpipe. I ordered a FP 4" intake. I will have the FP intake welded with a -10AN fitting. I received a major hit to my Car money. I purchased a 1998 GSX. It will be a DD. It changed my set up for my 96 GST. I have taken some parts from the 96 and will put them on the 99. Still waiting for DGR but i know im not the only one. I ordered two carbon fiber lip from extreme D..

The goal is +450hp with AC.
I will use an EVO 3 intake manifold(using a 2g Head) with crower springs. I will have the head rebuilt and stock MLS with MAP H11. going to try link (SD)vs aem
