MR O2 Housing, 4 bolts or 3 bolts and stud

I am getting a Megan Racing O2 housing to put on my Evo III 16G and I was about to order new bolts from the O2 housing to the turbine housing and I'm wondering if I can just get 4 bolts or do I have to get one stud because one of the bolts won't be able to fit?

I say get the 3 bolts and the stud and don't forget about the nut for the stud.

It would probably be safer to do that but it looks like the fourth bolt might fit and it would be a bit cheaper.

Besides, its MUCH easier to get an o2 housing on and get that last fastener tucked under the wastegate dump/recirc if its jsut a nut instead of a bolt. I don't feel there's enough thread to go into the turbine housing with a bolt length that can be fenagled into there. I've had gasket problems with that method. I suppose I could have told myself, " Matt, you should have less backpressure to keep that from happening any how."

It's about $8 more for the OEM stud and nut, and I know thats not a lot of money but I'm trying to save money on this build everywhere I can. I guess I could reuse the old nut on the car now.

. . . Cut your costs where you won't regret them later when trying to get the sucker on while the turbo is on the car. That's the benefit of the stud. Much easier install. It also helps hang you o2 housing and downpipe on while you bolt everything together.

Well I'm actually assembling everything outside the car because I have a new exhaust manifold, turbo, and O2 housing all going in at once.

When will you assemble everything outside of the car again? Hopefully not until AFTER you upgrade from the e3 16g . . .In the meantime it still CAN fail before the motor.
