So I took the eclipse to Lebanon valley for test and tune wednesday.First time ever down the track.Car ran 12.20@115 I was very happy.Now my problem.When I left I felt like the clutch pedal felt funny.Clutch worked fine but after the clutch engaged the remainder of the release was springy and kinda went twang clunk at the end.Drove car clutch worked fine.So I was just taking a look this morning ,messing with it a bit,and I manually moved the clutch release lever back and forth by hand a few times.Now my clutch pedal drops to the floor and stays there.Help! What did I do?
 
It looks like its still together correctly. There is a spring inside but the pedal needs to come up a little farther past the axis to engage the spring .If I lift it up na little it will spring back, right now its on the floor.Spoke to someone that said I may have unhooked it off the ball inside the tranny.

Well it looks like when I pumped it by hand I sucked some air into the system through the slave cylinder. I bleed the air and the clutch is back .May mean I need a slave cylinder or rebuild soon.Thanks for the help.
 
There's a roll-over spring at the clutch pedal and if you adjust the master so that the beginning of clutch release is too close to the rollover point, the pedal can drop. 'Course if either master or slave is defective, or there's air in the system, that's a problem too :(! By the way, if you replace one of the clutch cylinders, also replace the other, they don't tend to outlive each other by much and the hassle factor of failure is pretty high!
 
You pushes the fluid back into the master resivoir. IF you take the pedal and pull it up and pump it a few times it should return to normal.

Hopefully that's enough to get him going again.

I can recall, only once, where I've swapped fluid/adjusted my clutch on an old master and I must have developed this small split in the piston seal (RRE reference, ghost pedal) and after changing in cleaner fluid or adjusting the clutch the pedal just went straight down to the floor no matter what method I used to bleed.

I was just a fluke I figure. I threw a rebuild kit in it and away I went.
